North Carolina Symphony Broadcast Tonight on WUNC 91.5FM

The North Carolina Symphony and WUNC 91.5FM have partnered to present great music for a summer evening all season long. From now until August 29, favorite Symphony performances will be broadcast every Monday night from 10:00 p.m. to midnight and stream online at wunc.org.

Legendary broadcaster David Hartman hosts a program of music recorded live in Raleigh's Meymandi Concert Hall, as well as interviews and insights into some of the finest compositions ever written.

Tonight's program features Symphony Music Director Grant Llewellyn leading the Perlman/Schmidt/Bailey Trio in Beethoven's "Triple" Concerto, as well as masterworks by Mahler and Schubert.

SCHUBERT: Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D.759, "Unfinished"

MAHLER: Adagio from Symphony No. 10

BEETHOVEN: Concerto in C Major for Violin, Cello, Piano and Orchestra, Op. 56, "Triple"

"There was great beauty, poetry and refinement in the N.C. Symphony's first Raleigh classical concert of the season Friday night," wrote News & Observer writer Roy C. Dicks following the concert's live performance last September. "The orchestra had a gorgeous sheen, the soloists demonstrated confident artistry and the conductor offered intriguing insights."

About the North Carolina Symphony

Founded in 1932, the North Carolina Symphony performs over 175 concerts annually to adults and school children. The orchestra travels extensively throughout the state to venues in over 50 North Carolina counties. Under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Grant Llewellyn, Resident Conductor William Henry Curry and Associate Conductor Sarah Hicks, the orchestra employs 67 professional musicians.
