Chris Dykes' love of musical theatre is apparently older than his memory of it, as Mom insists that he sat in awed attention while watching Hello, Dolly! at the age of 3. He does recall begging his parents for repeated movie outings to see The Sound of Music, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Mary Poppins, and although this Julie Andrews fixation.-complete with attempts to fly by means of an umbrella held over the air conditioning unit.-eventually ran it's course (in college), his love of Broadway and film musicals has never wavered. Chris is a 20-year resident of Austin, Texas where he has donated many hours to the non-profit Austin Circle of Theatres and is currently risking heat stroke to train for the Chicago marathon. His master's degree in clinical psychology rarely comes in handy at Dell where he works as a software project manager. He has enjoyed volunteering in various capacities for Broadwayworld.com since shortly after its launch in 2003.

  QUICK POLL
London’s Olivier Awards divides plays into categories honoring “Best Play” and “Best Comedy.” Do you think the Tonys should do the same?
Yes, having more winners is good for Broadway.
No, we rarely get enough good plays to fill one category.
Yes, but only if the categories are Best Drama and Best Comedy.
No, because a lot of plays are both funny and dramatic.
I’ve got another opinion, so I’m leaving a comment.
