Built on years of great summer theatre classes and productions, WITF offers conservatory-style theatre education for youth and adults, through readings, workshops, productions and special events. Our core faculty includes performers, designers, teachers,and playwrights all working together with top academic credentials as well as professional experience.

Theatre is a great way to encourage self expression and creativity for people of all ages. We invite you to join us on this fabulous and fun journey toward growing great theatre.

FUNDAMENTALS - Youth + Adult Training

Stagecraft with Ann CW Deacon and Tyler Raymond

Get "behind the scenes" training in technical theatre. This class will explore the
fundamentals of stage lighting, set construction, stage management, and more.
Students will have an opportunity to learn how to tech on the WICA stage -
a great learning opportunity for young and older people.

Class size limit 12.

INTENSIVES - Youth + Adult Training

Performance Writing for Actors with Amy Walker

Explore the origins of character and story in this 3-day workshop with Amy Walker.

As actors, artists, and humans, we all have a story to tell. In an atmosphere of trust and freedom,
students will write their own scenes and develop them with exercises that interweave writing and
acting. At the end of the course, those who wish to have their pieces performed will offer them
as text for the following week's workshop.

WORKSHOPS AND CLINICS - Youth + Adult Training

Performance Collage of Original Works with Amy Walker

Utilizing the original texts from the previous workshop, we will stage a collage of scenes
for performance. Mornings will focus on freeingthe body, voice, and mind to allow greater
depth and range as actors, through the use of exercises and group games. Afternoons will
focus on staging the scenes for performance. Students with a desire to practice directing
will be encouraged to do so.

Brush Up on Your Shakespeare: An Ashland Adventure with Deana Duncan

We're going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival! Our first-ever educational tour includes:

Theatre Productions
Macbeth, Paradise Lost, and Much Ado About Nothing

"Spring Talks and Park Talks"
We'll spend time with actors, directors and other company members of OSF who'll share
their knowledge about the Festival and theatre in general, followed by a Q&A session.

"Festival Noon" events
Better than lunch! Who needs a sandwich when you can sample OSF's feast of
Festival Noons activities and events? They're serving up a big spread of noontime
treats - lectures, forums, artist demonstrations, concerts, panel discussions,
matinee Prefaces, and on-your-feet workshops for the whole family. Something
new every day.

"Prologue" discussions
Half-hour introductions to a play presented by a company member. Prologues
introduce characters, themes, language and other background information preparing
students to get the most out of the playgoing experience. We will attend Prologues for
Macbeth, Paradise Lost, and Don Quixote.

Classes with the Southern Oregon University theatre department

Round-trip ticket on the Whidbey Sea-Tac Shuttle (departing/arriving WICA) ***

(5) Days / (4) Nights stay in the Southern Oregon University dormitories**

Breakfasts at Southern Oregon University
Participants are responsible for lunches + dinners.
