MACK AND MABEL
October 21 - 22, 2011 - Side Door Stage (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)
Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman, (1974)
Book by Michael Stewart
Based on an idea by Leonard Spigelglass
A saga of the silent film era "when movies were movies," the story of legendary director Mack Sennett and his greatest star, the adorable Mabel Normand, played by Robert Preston and Bernadette Peters on Broadway. It is told in flashback with Mack himself as the protagonist narrator as he reminisces about the past, recalling his triumphs and his turbulent love affair with Mabel whom he had discovered as a waitress and made a star. The bountiful score (and Jerry Herman's personal favorite) includes "Tap Your Troubles Away," "Time Heals Everything," "I Won't Send Roses," "Hundreds of Girls" and many more.
"Mr. Herman has The Common touch, a gift for melodies familiar and memorable... A musical in the old and true tradition."-The New York Times

MINNIE'S BOYS
January 6 - 7, 2012 (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)
Book by Arthur Marx and Robert Fisher, (1970)
Music by Larry Grossman, Lyrics by Hal Hackady
The madcap Marx Brothers musical. A touching, song-filled celebration of the origins of the show-business legends and the family's gutsy, tender, matriarch Minnie Marx. Shelly Winters originated the role of Minnie, the extraordinary woman who gave birth to a generation of laughter in the form of the maddest, merriest quintet that ever drove a mother-and then the world-wild. This is their story-and Minnie's as well. "Mama a Rainbow," "Rich Is," "Where Was I When They Passed Out Luck?" and the title song are just a few of the catchy, Broadway-style melodies in this memorable score from the composer of Goodtime Charley and Snoopy.

GOLDILOCKS
April 20 - 21, 2012 (Friday & Saturday at 7 PM)
Book by Jean Kerr and Walter Kerr, (1958)
Music by Leroy Anderson
Lyrics by Walter Kerr, Jean Kerr and Joan Ford
Back in the days of nickelodeon movies, director Max Grady has a contract with beautiful comedienne and musical comedy star, Maggie, and an obsession with filming an epic set in Ancient Egypt. To stave off the inevitable and keep the disillusioned Maggie on the set, Max completes his film and much to his surprise, falls in love. Elaine Stritch and Don Ameche originated the roles of Maggie and Max on Broadway and Pat Stanley won a Tony Award for Best supporting actress for her role as Lois Lee. Leroy Anderson's only Broadway score includes the wonderfully witty and fun songs "There Never Was a Woman," "The Pussy Foot," Save a Kiss," "I Never Know When" and "The Beast in You."
"A funny musical comedy, and they don't hardly make them no more."-New York Daily News
