The Weston family has slowly and efficiently torn itself apart through decades of abandonment, misunderstanding, and narcissism; but are unceremoniously thrown together again following the disappearance of their reluctant patriarch.  Throughline Theatre Company presents August: Osage County tonight, July 20th at the Grey Box Theatre on Butler St. in Lawrenceville.

August: Osage County has received as many awards and accolades as a new play could hope to, but has also resonated with audiences everywhere. The darkly comic family tragedy created by Tracy Letts has been compared to the best works by Eugene O'Neill and Arthur Miller, yet with characters as distinctive and fresh as any contemporary American play can boast. The upcoming production by Throughline Theatre Company features a creative and intimate new staging of this modern classic, which has more commonly appeared in larger venues.

August: Osage County is the second production in Throughline Theatre's third season, which will be the Company's first season in their new venue. The Grey Box Theatre is located in Butler St. in the heart of Lawrenceville's up and coming business district. In its previous two seasons, Throughline Theatre Company has received recognition from audiences, newspapers, libraries, schools and the Pittsburgh City Council for their efforts and achievements bringing high-quality, affordable Theatre to the region.

Throughline Theatre Company's four-show season focuses on the relationship between past, present, and future by presenting plays from varied time periods and arranging them to highlight their thematic and stylistic similarities.
