Michele Pawk and Star in City Theatre's Cast of THE BLONDE, THE BRUNETTE...; Closes 5/30

Tony Award winner Michele Pawk is set to star in the upcoming production of THE BLONDE, THE BRUNETTE, AND THE VENGEFUL REDHEAD, opening at Pittsburgh's City Theatre On May 8th. The production will see Pawk take on seven different roles in the one-woman show by Robert Hewett.

Everyone has a story about the day Rhonda, a desperate housewife, went berserk at the mall in a raging crime of passion. One actress transforms onstage into all the characters as each new voice reveals more twists to this comic tour-de-force of love, mistaken identity, and revenge. A runaway hit in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and now across the U.S.

The Blonde, The Brunette, and the Vengeful Redhead premiered at the Stables Theatre in Sydney, Australia in 2004. It was later produced at other theatres in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, and the US.

Michele Pawk received a Tony Award for best featured actress in a play for Hollywood Arms. Her other Broadway credits include Losing Louie, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Seussical, Cabaret (for which she received Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle nominations), Triumph of Love, Crazy For You (for she received a Drama Desk nomination), and Mail. Off-Broadway she appeared in The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, The Paris Letter (Drama Desk nomination), Reefer Madness, After the Fair, Hello Again, Merrily We Roll Along, john & jen, A Little Night Music (NYC & LA Operas). Ms. Pawk appeared in the regional production of Natural History and her television credits include the three "Law and Order" series.

The Blonde, The Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead will begin preview performances on May 8th, with an official opening date of May 14th. The show runs through May 30th. Tickets are available online, by phone at 412.431.CITY (2489) or at the Box Office, and range in price from $23 to $39.

City Theatre has been described as Pittsburgh's most adventurous theatre. City Theatre specializes in new plays and has brought to Pittsburgh playwrights such as Adam Rapp, Christopher Durang, and Jeffrey Hatcher. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, Managing Director Greg Quinlan, and a 45-member Board of Directors, City Theatre's mission is to provide an artistic home for the development and production of contemporary plays that engage a diverse audience.

Since Tracy Brigden's first season (2001-02), City Theatre has commissioned and produced plays by Adam Rapp (Gompers), Christopher Durang (Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge) and Squonk Opera (Burn), and produced world premieres by Jeffrey Hatcher (Mercy of a Storm), Michele Lowe (String of Pearls), and Leslie Ayvazian (Lovely Day). City Theatre also introduced the new play festival MOMENTUM: new plays at different stages, which has brought to Pittsburgh playwrights such as Lee Blessing and Steven Dietz.
