Theater Works at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts announces the opening of Big: The Musical. This West Valley premier bursts onto the stage in an unforgettable theatrical experience on September 6, 2013.

Big: The Musical is based on the much-loved movie that made actor and producer Tom Hanks a star. It tells the story of a 12-year-old boy, named Josh, who wishes he could be an adult. He visits a fortune-telling machine at a carnival and flippantly makes his request. Upon awaking the next morning he finds that is his wish has been granted and he is a 30-year-old-man. He soon discovers that there is much more to being "big" than he bargained for.

For the first time in history, Theater Works is combining its MasterWorks and YouthWorks programs for one "huge" production. Forty-six actors have been cast ranging in age from nine to sixty years old.

Dennis J. Clark, playing the lead role of Adult Josh, sought out Theater Works specifically for this opportunity. He currently lives in New York and has performed in Off-Broadway productions, tours and regional theatres across the country. Clark says, "This is a dream role that he has always wanted to perform."

Amidst all the song and dance of the show, the "Big" piano will take center stage. The classic scene of "Chopsticks" will be played on a giant toy keyboard intricately designed by Theater Works own production team.

Be careful what you wish for! Big, The Musical opens September 6, 2013 and runs through September 29, 2013.

Tickets are available by calling (623) 815.7930 or visiting www.theaterworks.org.
