Summer is just around the corner and Theater Works has some exciting theater camps for kids 3 - 18.

Theater Works' first camp is the exciting tale of THE GOATS GRUFF with over 40 speaking roles available. This camp kicks off the summer series with 3 weeks of fun, acting, encouragement and a FULLY-COSTUMED AND STAGED PRODUCTION with your child performing on stage. This play has plenty of roles to keep every actor (boys and girls) engaged and active and will provide a fun filled time for performers and audiences alike. Theater Works camps are open to all ages, budgets and schedules. Registration is now open and discounts are offered for siblings or multiple camps.

A classic folktale receives a twist when three billy goats, all named Gruff, move into the Land of Nursery Rhymes. As in INTO THE WOODS or the popular SHREK movies, familiar characters like Bo Peep and Little Boy Blue, and the Troll interact in modern, humorous and unexpected ways - and eventually, all live happily ever after! This original play was nominated for 20 ariZoni awards in 2011.

Other Summer 2012 camps include a 1 week Acting Boot Camp, Broadway Bound Musical I and Broadway Musical II. The Acting Boot Camp provides a general overview of the necessary tools to land a role by learning audition techniques, scene study and much more. The Broadway Bound Musical camps are ideal for kids new to musical theater where they will learn the basics of auditioning, choreography and music. The final 3 week camp of the series is a full production of the popular Into The Woods, Jr. as The Brothers Grimm "go Broadway" with Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's cockeyed fairy tale where all of your favorite characters-Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and The Witch-meet and interact on their journeys. The sophisticated WOODS JR. is a funny and engaging way to get young people to think about the stories with which they've grown up and the ethical issues raised therein.

For the youngest campers, ages 3 - 6, Theater Works has the Imagination Series that allows them to use their imaginations and bring fun characters to life through dramatic play, art, and music. These camps are a great introduction to the theater and the performing arts. Each camp has a new theme so your actor can take one or all three sessions and have a unique creative experience every time.

Registration is now open and may be completed by calling the Box Office at 623-815-7930. For more information about the camps, visit www.theaterworks.org. Theater Works is located in the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts (the theater with the copper roof) at 8355 W Peoria Avenue, Peoria.
