January 5 through 13, Canyon Moon Theatre, Sedona's professional regional theater, brings the excitement of new play work to northern Arizona at the first annual Sedona New Play Festival. Sponsored by the Sedona Community Foundation, Allie Ollie Boutiques and The Hilton Sedona Golf Resort & Spa., this Festival brings together playwrights, directors and actors to do reading of new works.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, January 5 at 7:00 PM - A welcome reception with the playwrights, directors and actors. GA $15. CMT Subscribers $10.

Sunday, January 6 at 2:00PM and 7:00PM - Burning in the Night by Richard Warren, is a funny and moving play based on the memoirs of Dale Wasserman's teenage years riding the rails as an itinerant laborer. General Admission (GA) $15, Canyon Moon Theatre(CMT) Subscribers $12.

Monday thru Friday 9:30AM-12:30PM - Rehearsals for Texas Boot Monday thru Friday 1:30PM -4:30PM - Rehearsals for Open Heart 2 rehearsals, one for each show, General Admission $7, CMT Subscribers $5.

Monday, January 7 at 7:00PM - This playwright/director/actor panel is a "behind the scenes" look at how a play is created. Scheduled guests include Monte Merrick, Richard Warren, Mark DeMichele and Mary Guaraldi. GA $10 CMT Subscribers $8.

Tuesday, January 8 at 7:00PM - The movie Memphis Belle, written by Monte Merrick, will be shown. Following the movie there will be a discussion about the movie and its filming with Mr. Merrick. GA $12. CMT Subscribers $10.

Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00PM -The Convergence Mile (formerly titled Miracle Mile) by Seth Muller. This play, penned after the Sedona sweat lodge tragedy explores zealotry, blind submission and our appetite for meaning as the characters' thoughts about morality and spirituality dance around one another and intertwine. GA $15., CMT Subscribers $12.

Thursday, January 10 at 7:00PM - The Convergence Mile

Friday, January 11 at 7:00PM - Texas Boot by Jeffrey Sweet explores the relationship between LynDon Johnson and Senator Richard Russell as it is tested by Johnson's commitment to Civil Rights and Russell's commitment to segregation. GA $15., CMT Subscribers $12.

Saturday, January 12 at 2:00PM - Texas Boot

Saturday, January 12 at 7:00PM - Open Heart by Monte Merrick is a play about a man's complicated relationships with his ex-wife and son. They become even more complex with the introduction of a new woman into the son's life. GA $15., CMT Subscribers $12.

Sunday, January 13 at 2:00PM - Open Heart

There will a nightly informal "meet & greet" cash reception with the playwrights, directors and actors being held in the Shadow Rock Bar at the Hilton Sedona Golf Resort & Spa.
