Since it began in 2010, Scottsdale Musical Theater Company has always offered discounts to veterans and military personnel and their families to all of their productions. They've also donated hundreds of tickets through VetTix - a program that offers free tickets to events to veterans and their families through a lottery system - more than any other theatre company in the Valley. SMTC is dedicated to making low-cost or free tickets available to veterans for each production.

"Going to the theatre has always been a great escape for anyone seeking great entertainment and to be transported to other places," states Associate Producer Hector Coris. "Having spoken with many veterans who have attended our productions, they are so grateful for the opportunity to get out for an evening with their loved one and see a show. If we can make that experience affordable to them, that is just a small token of appreciation for their service to our country."

For Sondheim on Sondheim, SMTC is offering $20 tickets for military personnel and their families. Using the code MILVET02, veterans and military personnel can call (602) 909-4215 or order online at www.scottsdalemusicaltheater.com to buy discounted tickets. (Valid military ID required.)

Weaving actual video interviews with the legendary composer himself, Sondheim on Sondheim provides a fresh perspective into Stephen Sondheim's illustrious career from his biggest hits to his earlier works and earlier versions of songs from his famous musicals. The cast of 8 will present some of Sondheim's best - and obscure - songs. This is the first time this show - first produced on Broadway in 2010 - has ever been presented in Arizona. This show is a must for any fan of musical theatre - and the creation of art.

This limited engagement will take place October 29 - 31st at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. Regular tickets are $32 - $42 and may be ordered at (602) 909-4215 or through the SMTC website www.ScottsdaleMusicalTheater.com.

The performance schedule is Thursday Oct 29 @ 7:30PM, Friday Oct 30 @ 7:30PM and Saturday, Oct 31 @ 2:00PM.

SMTC has been called "the best theatre company in the Valley when it comes to producing classic musicals." (Talkin' Broadway).
