Based on the popular 1988 film, the stage version is an outrageously, delicious musical comedy following the travails of two con artists, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson, as they take on the lifestyles of the rich and shameless in a glorious and glamorous Riviera setting. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that their small French coastal town isn't big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement: the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target wins and the other must leave for good. Winner of eleven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was created by the same man who wrote the music and lyrics for another Tony Award winning musical, The Full Monty. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels captures the brilliance of the movie, which starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin, but updated with new and even more humor than before. PFAA's production features veteran actor/director Don Langford as Lawrence Jameson, Kate Howell (Mama Rose in the 2009 - 2010 Mainstage production of Gypsy) as Christine Colgate, Glenn Velguth as Inspector Andre Thibault, and PFAA's Technical Director, Cason Murphy as Freddy Benson.
