D.C. Comedy Troupe The Capitol Steps Comes to Scottsdale, 11/29-30
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present The Capitol Steps on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30. Tickets are available for $49, $59 and $69 online at www.ScottsdalePerformingArts.org or through (480) 499-TKTS (8587).
Returning for their annual pilgrimage to Scottsdale, The Capitol Steps are known for putting the 'mock' in democracy with their unique blend of political comedy set to popular music. The D.C.-based troupe's smart and irreverent satire pokes fun at all sides of the issues, from left to right, with fresh, up-to-the-minute material inspired by the latest headlines, scandals and more.
The Steps' performance will include songs from their latest album, Fiscal Shades of Gray, along with possible 'guest appearances' by President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner, among many others, onstage and singing show tunes!
The Capitol Steps began in 1981 as a Christmas party skit in the office of former Senator Charles Percy. The rest is history. During the past three decades, the Steps have recorded more than 30 albums, performed for five U.S. presidents and appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, 20/20, Entertainment Tonight, Nightline, CNN's Inside Politics and dozens of times on National Public Radio's All Things Considered.
