On February 9, 2009, Arizona Broadway Theatre had announced its line-up of shows for its upcoming fifth season to an invited crowd of Platinum Season Ticket holders. Kiel Klaphake, ABT's Executive Producer, told the filled auditorium, "What makes it really exciting is the fact that we have eight great shows in the line-up. However, one show we are extremely excited about is one that we cannot announce until April 15th." Klaphake continued, "What I am allowed to tell you is that the composer of this yet-to-be-named show is Andrew Lloyd Webber." Well, April 15th has arrived, and ABT can literally let The cat out of the bag. Smack in the middle of its upcoming season, ABT will produce the mega-hit Cats.

ABT's fifth season begins on October 2, 2009, with a remounting of Anything Goes, the classic Cole Porter tale of high jinx and mistaken identities. "We opened our first season with this production over at the Peoria Sports Complex in a tent, and we are excited to bring it to you on the stage where it should have been in the first place," Klaphake said. A Christmas Carol: The Musical cast a spell over ABT audience members last holiday season and makes its return in an encore production beginning November 27, 2009. The season continues with Gypsy, followed by Cats, Maury Yeston's Phantom, Footloose, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and concludes with a play (a first for ABT), Lend Me A Tenor. About the play, Klaphake remarked, "We are thrilled to bring you something different next season. This play is probably one of the funniest comedies ever written, and we hope that it will begin a new tradition here at the theatre."

Deadline for all season subscription renewals is April 17, 2009. New subscriptions will go on sale starting April 20, 2009. Beginning May 25, single tickets go on sale for all of the 2009-2010 productions.

ABT, Arizona's one-of-a-kind, award-winning, state-of-the-art professional dinner theatre, showcases locally and nationally acclaimed artists both onstage and behind the scenes. This season continues with Miss Saigon (April 17 - May 24), Bye Bye Birdie (June 5 - July 19), Forever Plaid and The Taffetas (August 7 - September 20).
