AMERICAN IDIOT, the smash Broadway and West End musical, tells the story of three boyhood friends: Johnny, Will, and Tunny. Each is searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world. Winner of two Tony Awards, Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Christine Jones and Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Kevin Adams, and winner of the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, AMERICAN IDIOT opened on Broadway in 2010 and in the West End in 2015. Besides the hit songs from the album AMERICAN IDIOT, the musical also includes several songs from Green Day's 2009 album, "21st Century Breakdown" and an unreleased ballad "When It's Time."

On Broadway, Green Day vocalist-guitarist Billy Joe Armstrong performed the role of St. Jimmy at certain performances.

In Asia, AMERICAN IDIOT made its premiere in Tokyo, Japan three years ago. Performances in Seoul, South Korea also followed where Sean Michael Murray played Johnny, Mariah MacFarlane played Heather, and Daniel Jackson played St. Jimmy.

Following an extensive UK tour, AMERICAN IDIOT, which stars Newton Faulker as Johnny and "X Factor" finalist Amelia Lily as Whatsername, is set to return to the West End in July this year.

AMERICAN IDIOT, the musical, was written by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, with music by Green Day and lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong.
