Manila, Philippines--Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, David Atkins Enterprises, and Concertus Manila, together with VISA, Smart Infinity, and Solaire Resort and Casino, unveiled via a press launch Tuesday, September 16, that CHICAGO on Broadway's recurring lead actors Bianca Marroquin (Roxie Hart) and Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly) are bound to reprise their signature roles on Broadway when CHICAGO plays Manila at the newly built The Theatre, Solaire Resort and Casino (1 Asean Avenue, Entertainment City, Paranaque City), from Tuesday, December 2, to Sunday, December 21.

Marroquin, a beloved superstar in her native Mexico, and MacLeod took a break from playing Roxie and Velma, respectively, in the United States to personally attend and perform excerpts from CHICAGO at the launch event held at Solaire Ballroom.

Now in its 18th year on Broadway, the Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO is set to become the second-longest running show in Broadway history when it breaks on Sunday, November 23, the record of 7,486 performances made by "Cats." "The Phantom of the Opera," which recently played its 11,000th performance, remains the longest-running show on the Great White Way.

In addition to the show's success in New York, CHICAGO is a global hit; the musical has been performed in more than 30 countries and in 12 languages since 1996.

This fall, CHICAGO will launch a new U.S. tour--its 16th--which includes a 30-city itinerary and return engagements to New Orleans, San Francisco, Kansas City, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. This same touring company, led by Marroquin (Roxie) and Macleod (Velma), will travel to Manila, the only international production of CHICAGO scheduled near the end of this year.

"Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids," says the show's official synopsis.

This particular production, a revival production based on the original 1975 Broadway production, opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1996, which eventually transferred to the Shubert Theatre from Febuary 1997 to January 2003. It currently plays The Ambassador Theatre on 49th Street.

CHICAGO features music by Tony winners John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb; lighting design by Tony winner Ken Billington; choreography by Tony winner Ann Reinking, which has been recreated by David Bushman; musical supervision by Rob Fisher; and costume design by Tony winner William Ivey Long.
