Have the urge to perform, but not inclined toward stage or screen? Consider the many opportunities offered by Voice Over work. All it takes is a mic! ...

And good training. Find the training at Leonard Dozier's highly sought after workshop on Voice Over work, on August 20 in downtown Harrisburg.

Dozier, a SAG-AFTRA actor and voice actor with 20 years' experience, will cover:

  • The basics of voice acting, techniques, and vocal preparation

  • Voice acting careers, including commercials, documentaries, and animation

  • The business of voice acting-creating work opportunities and a demo

  • Putting your voice and skills to the test-recording real scripts on the spot and simulating auditions. You'll receive a copy of your work.

The Harrisburg workshop kicks off a national tour, but then, is being retired

"After five years of workshops--seeing more than 200 students make the leap from curious and interested to auditioning, working, and recording--I can focus my efforts on being a mentor and available when needed by them," Dozier said.

An Addy Award-winning voice actor, he is a frequent performer at Open Stage of Harrisburg. Dozier was cast as a principal actor-along with Lea Michele, Dan Akroyd, and Patrick Stewart-in the animated movie "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return" and appears in the apocalyptic thriller "Phaesporia" (2016). He is the official voice for Boomtown Casino; one of the voices for the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Coca Cola's NCAA Recyclemania campaign, and Miami Marlins, and lends his vocal talents to several audiobooks and documentaries.

The workshop, taking place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Open Stage, 223 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, costs $150. To register, call 888-670-3373.
