Due to overwhelming demand, Lantern Theater Company announces a second extension of the Philadelphia premiere of The Liar by award-winning playwright David Ives. Playing to packed houses since its first performance on Nov. 1, Ives' "translaptation" of Pierre Corneille's comedy classic has drawn raves. The Liar will now run through Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. The following performances have been added:

Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 7 at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Charming, handsome, and an incorrigible liar, Dorante (Aubie Merrylees) has come to Paris seeking pleasure. He falls head over heels for the beautiful Clarice (Sarah Gliko), but mistakes her name for that of her best friend, Lucrece (Emilie Krause). After lying his way into a world of trouble, can Dorante lie his way back out again? Fiendishly clever and a bit naughty, the wordplay and swordplay of The Liar make for an evening that's filled with delights.

Directed by Lantern Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan, the production also stars Dave Johnson as Dorante's manservant Cliton, Peter Schmitz as Dorante's father Geronte, Emily Rogge as twins Isabelle and Sabine, Jake Blouch as Alcippe, and Matt Tallman as Philiste.

Tickets are $30-$36 and are available online at lanterntheater.org or by calling (215) 829-0395. Discounts are available for students, seniors, and groups of 10 or more. Lantern Theater Company is located at St. Stephen's Theater, 10th & Ludlow Streets in Center City Philadelphia.
