Jon Batiste and The Stay Human Band kick off the Fall offerings of FREE Sittin' In Jam Sessions on Wednesday, September 21 at the KimMel Center's Plaza Stage, sponsored by Coca-Cola. Batiste is the founder and leader of The Stay Human Band, a modern jazz ensemble noted for their world-class music, high energy and uplifting spirit.

Sittin' In begins with music from Philly's hottest young DJ, DJ Phsh and new MC (Mistress of Ceremonies) Laiya St. Clair co-host of the Morning Show from Philly's Hot 107.9, warms up the crowd, followed by a performance by host Jon Batiste. Then, the house band the Stay Human band, selected by the host of the night, takes the stage to perform a short set, followed by more music from DJ Phsh before the final set opens up to select local artists, chosen by the host of the night, to jam with the house band.

WHAT: Jazz leader Batiste has ignited the NYC music scene, and is now bringing the party to Philly for a FREE musical jam session at the Kimmel, where audiences can dance, relax and listen to music with sets by resident DJ, DJ Phsh.

In his role as co-director and music creator at The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, Jon Batiste has programmed year-long education workshops for hundreds of students. Batiste will bring some of that community minded innovation and education to Philadelphia when he works with the KimMel Center's Jazz Residency Artists next year.

Philly's hottest musicians revisit the classic jam session on the Plaza Stage with an eclectic mix of cross-genre grooves that meet horns, vinyl, and vocals.

Sittin' In is curated by acclaimed jazz bassist and Director of the KimMel Center's Creative Music Program, Anthony Tidd, who invites renowned house bands to host a night of informal, spontaneous jam sessions.

Each Sittin' In evolves uniquely depending on the host, but every session gives attendees the opportunity to dance, relax and listen to exceptional music in one of the world's greatest jazz venues. This Fall features Jon Batiste and the Stay Human Band this week with hosts Stacy "Fly Girrl" Wilson and Rachel Claudio to come.

Chef Jose Garces' award-winning delectable bites and drinks are now available on the KimMel Center's campus through concessions, elevating pre-show and performance experience to new levels. Group Cash bar available at the PECO and Annex bars.
