Bucks County Playhouse to Welcome Comedians Richie Byrne & Jay Black in January

Nationally known comics Richie Byrne and Jay Black are the scheduled headliners for two winter weekends of comedy at the historic Bucks County Playhouse, January 15-16 and January 22-23.

Comic Keith Anthony will open for Byrne, who is scheduled to perform on January 15 and 16 at 8 pm. A top-notch performer in the industry, Byrne is known for his comedic style that blends the sharpness of a New York observationalist with the charm of an old-school storyteller. He is currently the warm-up act for "The Dr. Oz Show" and has played such prestigious comedy clubs as Dangerfield's, Caroline's and Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan. Byrne also has an extensive career in film and television. He has made appearances on such popular programs as HBO's "Sex" & "Sopranos", as well as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Conviction" on NBC.

Black will headline the Playhouse on January 22 and 23. A very popular comedian on college campuses, Black has performed at over 700 campuses nationwide. Black is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2009 Campus Activities Magazine Comedian of the Year, both the 2013 and 2014 APCA College Comedian of the Year, and the 2013 all-around College Performer of the Year. He has opened for such illustrious comedian celebrities as Kevin Nealon, Christopher Titus, Greg Fitzsimmons, Bobcat Goldthwait, Emo Phillips, Pete Holmes, and Sinbad. He is also an accomplished screenwriter. Black's opening act will be Allan Goodwin, a nationally recognized comedian and finalist in the 2014 "World Series of Comedy."

The standup comedy weekends are part of the Playhouse's commitment to offer year-round programming at the historic Bucks County vanue. Throughout 2016, the Playhouse will offer music, dance and special cultural events programming in addition to its mainstage subscription programming, which begins in May. More details will be announced in the coming weeks. Patrons are advised to visit the Bucks County Playhouse website and social media pages for continuing updates.

Individual tickets in the orchestra section are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Cabaret tables, including table service from the Playhouse Riverview Café, are $35. To see both weekends of comedy, two-show packages can be purchased for $25 in the orchestra section and $60 at a Cabaret table.
