ALICE IN WONDERLAND, FANCY NANCY and More Set for Walnut Street Theatre's 2014-15 Kids Series

Celebrated for its commitment to encouraging parents (and grandparents) to read and learn with their kids, the Walnut Street Theatre for Kids 2014-2015 Season will feature four great musicals based on popular children's books and shows, along with a family-favorite holiday classic. These hour-long musicals deliver real-life lessons in a welcoming, kid-friendly environment that's both creative and affordable. They're written especially for kids in grades K-6 and their grown-up friends. The Walnut takes pride in bringing together families through reading, learning and the arts.

New this season: The Walnut will produce all five WST for Kids' productions, hiring more actors and artists than ever. Also, due to popular demand, the Walnut has expanded its subscription series by adding a Sunday morning series.

The 2014-2015 Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Season will feature four spectacular musicals based on your kids' favorite books and shows! Kids and families will enjoy Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr. (September 20 and 28), The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (Stoopid) Tales (January 31 and February 8), Fancy Nancy, The Musical (March 28 and 29), Schoolhouse Rock Jr. (May 30 and 31) and Philadelphia's favorite holiday tradition, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (November 29 - December 21).

The season begins with a journey down the rabbit hole in Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr.! Kids will join Alice's madcap adventures as she chases the White Rabbit, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game! Audiences will enjoy 'Wonderland'ful songs include "I'm Late," "The Un-birthday Song" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" in Alice in Wonderland Jr., Saturday, September 20 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, September 28 at 11:00 am.

Up next is The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (Stoopid) Tales based on the book by Jon Scieszka. Kids will enter a weird and wacky world as Jack tries to save himself from the Giant and runs into some crazy characters along the way! There's a tortoise racing a hair-growing hare, an ugly duckling that grows up to be an ugly duck, Cinderumplestiltskin and, of course, that Stinky Cheese Man. The laugh-out-loud fun will be onstage Saturday, January 31 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, February 8 at 11:00 am.

Then, see Fancy Nancy, The Musical live on stage! Fancy Nancy and her friends, Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel are super-excited to be dancing in a school recital. Nancy and Bree would be perfect mermaids, but Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. She soon discovers that being fancy comes in many forms - all it takes is imagination! Explore your imagination Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, March 29 at 11:00 am.

Finally, audiences will meet Tom, a young school teacher, who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when characters come to life and show him how to win his students by being creative with music. Rock along to classic songs including, "Just A Bill,""Lolly, Lolly, Lolly," and "Conjunction Junction" during Schoolhouse Rock Jr., Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, and Sunday, May 31 at 11:00 am.
