As a prelude to the forthcoming Super Deluxe Edition of The Sound of Music, Craft Recordings has released a special alternate take of the film’s iconic duet “Something Good,” featuring never-before-heard original vocals from the legendary Christopher Plummer (whose vocals were dubbed in the film) alongside co-star Julie Andrews.

Rita Moreno stopped by the SiriusXM studios to talk  about the upcoming season of Netflix's One Day At A Time. While at the SiriusXM studios Moreno sat down with SiriusXM host Jessica Shaw where they discussed the new West Side Story.  

The upcoming remake of WEST SIDE STORY directed by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by Tony Kushner has announced additional casting according to Deadline. Ariana DeBose will star as Anita, Tony Award Winner David Alvarez as Bernardo, and Josh Andres Rivera has been cast as Chino.

On this day in 1962, the groundbreaking screen adaptation of Jerome Robbin's West Side Story swept the Academy Awards, taking home a whopping ten wins, including Best Picture. In the special 5-disc DVD edition of THE SOUND OF MUSIC from 20th Century Fox that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the film, Julie Andrews revisits Salzburg, Austria where the movie was shot.

In addition to the new Special Edition Blu-ray and CD soundtrack, no less than four new books are being published in 2015 to coincide with the anniversary, focusing on the film. One of which, 'The Sound of Music Companion - 50th Anniversary Edition' (Laurence Maslon, Pavilion/Rizzoli), details every step in the evolution of this masterwork from real-life to page to stage to film to international phenomenon. In anticipation of the November 2, 2010 release of The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition Soundtrack and Blu-Ray film, the classic movie musical is being celebrated where it all began - in movie theaters across America. NCM Fathom, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presented THE SOUND OF MUSIC SING-ALONG EVENT: A 45th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION on October 19 and will again on October 26 in over 500 select movie theaters in over 150 cities. BroadwayWorld stopped by the Manhattan screening to find audiences raving about event.

On October 28, 2010, Oprah will host the cast of the 1965 film version of The Sound of Music. The entire cast will appear on the program, which will feature a performance by the real-life von Trapp Family Singers. . The cast reunion is timed to The Sound of Music 45th Anniversary Limited Edition Collection, Blu-ray and DVD Combo Packs, all which include a version of the film that has been meticulously restored and re-mastered, will be available beginning November 2 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
