Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, announces the midwest premiere of Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel. The production, directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon, runs April 22 - May 28, 2016, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.  Irvington Town Hall Theater (ITHT) closes out a second season of their Stage Door Series, ( where new works are presented in a relaxed setting without sets, costumes, or props) with an afternoon of one-act plays. Three different one-acts by two diverse local playwrights will be read on Sunday, April 24 at 3:00pm. Two plays by Evelyn Mertens: Stray Gloves and Sleep Study and one by Stephanie Okun: Fishing. Pipeline Theatre Company has announced the addition of Natalie Gershtein, Producing Director, to their leadership team. Gershtein joins Ari Schrier, who has served as the company's Artistic Director since 2012. In this newly created position, Gershtein will work collaboratively with Schrier to oversee the company's strategic and artistic growth, which includes the presentation of the New York premiere of Jason Craig and Dave Malloy's BEARDO in the 2016-2017 season. Winner of the 2014 Global Age Project at Aurora Theatre Company and featured on The 2015 Kilroy List of the most recommended new plays by female and trans* writers, the play introduces us to Archer (still Angela to his family), who makes the journey back home to the forests of Eastern Oregon. His journey back proves to be just the beginning when he meets a handsome stranger at night under the oldest Ponderosa Pine. What follows illuminates the transitions of life and death, the comings and goings of love, and the mysteries of the human heart.
