Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, announced today that is has ordered 26 episodes of two new animated series, Bad Seeds and Pig Goat Banana Cricket, to be produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif.

West End's BILLY ELLIOT Welcomes 30 New Ballet Girls to Cast

This week thirty young dancers will take to the stage at the Victoria Palace Theatre as Ballet Girls in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical. Earlier this month the show announced the release of over new 570,000 tickets taking booking to 16 May 2015 during which time the internationally award-winning production will celebrate 10 years in the West End. Lifetime Orders Gabby Douglas Biopic

Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris, Love Reign Over Me) and Sydney Mikayla (Whitney) have been cast to share the role of two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas in the Lifetime Original Movie The Gabby Douglas Story (working title). Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the movie details the inspiring true story of the international gymnastics phenomenon, who overcame overwhelming odds to become the first African American ever to be named Individual All-round Champion in artistic gymnastics at the Olympics. Mikayla will portray Douglas during her childhood while Hakim will play the gold medalist as a teenager and young adult. The real-life Gabby Douglas will appear in the film, which also stars Peabody Award-winning actress Regina King (Southland, Ray) and Golden Globe(R) and Emmy(R)-winner S. Epatha Merkerson (Law & Order). The Gabby Douglas Story will film in Manitoba, Canada, and debut in 2014.

AMC Developing WALKING DEAD Companion Series

AMC announced today that the network is in the initial stages of developing a companion series to its original drama series The Walking Dead, which premiered on AMC in October of 2010. The Walking Dead is currently the #1 show on television among adults 18-49. Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are on board as executive producers, with AMC Studios set to produce. The companion series has a target on-air date of 2015.

Acorn Productions is pleased to announce that they have hired two new staff members for the coming season, and expanded the job descriptions of two current staff members as part of a staff reorganization that better allows the company to operate its educational programs and production season. The new staff structure will better provide the support necessary to produce Acorn's season, comprised of three children's theater presentations by the Fairy Tale Players, the company's annual Jewish-themed holiday show, the 13th edition of the Maine Playwrights Festival, and more ongoing free performances by Naked Shakespeare. Additionally, the Acorn Acting Academy will offer four semesters of classes and summer camps as well as the second year of our Acorn Shakespeare Conservatory. Acorn has also just begun a new partnership with the Westbrook Community Center that involves afterschool educational theatre classes and performances through the 21st Century Grant program. Nigel Harman to Portray Simon Cowell in X FACTOR Musical I CAN'T SING; Cynthia Erivo Nabs Lead

The Daily Mail reports that Simon Cowell has finally cast the actor who will portray him in the new X FACTOR musical I CAN'T SING, set to begin performances at the London Palladium on February 27. It's Nigel Harman, who won an Olivier for his role as 'Lord Farquaad' in SHREK THE MUSICAL in the West End. In addition, Cynthia Erivo, currently starring in Menier Chocolate Factory's revival of THE COLOR PURPLE, has been cast in the lead.

Imaginary Beasts announces its 2013-2014 season, Once Upon A…, which will explore the inherent darkness in fairy tales. The Beasts will tackle modern revisions of classic stories, including a world premiere by a local playwright and actor. The 2013-2014 season marks Imaginary Beasts third year as an Emerging Theatre Company at the Boston Center for the Arts. All productions will take place at the Plaza Black Box Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts. In addition to regular season productions, Imaginary Beasts will also debut two new programs: The Incubator, a development ground for devising and developing new work in a studio environment, and Wee Beasties, a companion program to our season productions that will offer family-friendly matinees related to their headlining main stage shows.
