OSF Receives $80,000 NEA Grant for All-Female Production of THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) has been awarded an $80,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the 2014 production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. OSF is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant, which will help fund 38 performances as well as surrounding education and audience engagement events for William Shakespeare's comedy of young male bonding and betrayal, which OSF will present with an all-female cast.

With the snow barely melted, it's a challenge believing that it's almost time to break out the picnic baskets and blankets and beat a path to the nearest park for Repercussion Theatre's annual Shakespeare-in-the-Park festival. From July 3rd to August 2nd, the epic tale of Harry the King, The Famous Victories of Henry V will unfold both in and out of the city.

Shakespeare Theatre Company to Host Annual Mock Trial at Sidney Harman Hall, 5/19

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents its Annual Dinner and Mock Trial at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) on Monday, May 19, 2014. This marks the 20th year that Shakespeare Theatre Company has produced the Mock Trial. The evening begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Trial at 7:30 p.m. The dinner will be held in the Forum while the Trial will be in Sidney Harman Hall. This year's trial includes a special session of the Supreme Court of Austria, convening at Sidney Harman Hall to hear the case of Isabella v. The Duke of Vienna. Some of the allegations include illegal secret surveillance, false imprisonment, negligent appointment of an unfit deputy, and disrespect of commitment to religious vows.

Impro Theatre is set to celebrate William Shakespeare's 450th birthday on Friday, April 25 with a special performance of its currently running production, Shakespeare UnScripted, a post-show discussion, and a champagne reception complete with birthday cake. The curtain will rise at 8pm at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre (upstairs at The Pasadena Playhouse) in Pasadena.

RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran has announced the company's Summer 2014 season in Stratford-upon-Avon with three early titles in the Company's six year journey across Shakespeare's entire First Folio of 36 plays. They are Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part II, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. They will be shot for broadcast as part of "Live from Stratford-upon-Avon," a program that screens the world's greatest classical theatre company from Shakespeare's home town around the world through a continued partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment. This year also marks the 450th anniversary year of Shakespeare's birth.

Pacific Northwest Ballet Presents A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Now thru 4/19

Pacific Northwest Ballet continues its 2013-2014 season with George Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream. A complete delight for all ages, this full-length ballet is based on William Shakespeare's comedy about the romantic adventures, quarrels and reunions of two pairs of mortal lovers and the king and queen of the fairies. Balanchine's Midsummer, which New York City Ballet premiered in 1962, was the first original evening-length ballet he choreographed in America. Staged by PNB Founding Artistic Director Francia Russell, PNB's production is an enchanted landscape where misunderstandings and mayhem weave tangled paths through the opulent layers of Martin Pakledinaz's designs and Balanchine's marvelously crafted partnerings. All ends well in Act II's wedding festivities with the recognition of ideal love, tenderly portrayed in an exquisite pas de deux. Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR Comes to Heritage Center, 4/25-5/11

Actors' NET of Bucks County presents Shakespeare's Julius Caesar at The Heritage Center Theatre. The play will be staged in modern dress to show the relevancy the piece still has today. The play will run from April 25th to May 11th.
