Boston Public Works presents Jim Dalglish's UNSAFE - a psychological thriller, a look at one family's attempt to live a normal life after the devastating losses of 9-11. The One-Minute Play Festival and Boston Playwrights' Theatre (Kate Snodgrass, Artistic Director) continue their dynamic partnership with the The 3rd Annual Boston One-Minute Play Festival, with part of the proceeds to benefit BPT's artist residency programming.

Following fifteen-year-old Hank, the show addresses the growth of rap and hip hop in the 1980s, particularly in a suburban environment where it had not yet been accepted. Hank and his friends, Julian and Luann, struggle with stage fright, competition, unsupportive parental figures, friendship, acceptance and identity throughout the piece, all of which is masterfully DJed by the Selector, a current day disk jockey who narrates and soundtracks the entire show.

First written ten years ago and re-imagined through a recent workshop with The Ruckus, Facing Angela is written by Season 4 featured playwright Scott T. Barsotti and is directed by Kyra Lewandowski.

The cast of six is a motley crew of Ruckus regulars and Chicago theater favorites. Facing Angela will be performed at the Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N. Southport) June 29-July 28, 2013. Thursday- Saturday performances are at 8:00pm; Sunday performances are at 2pm. In observance of Independence Day, there will not be a show on July 4. There will be an industry performance on Mon. July 8 at 8pm. Preview tickets on June 27 and June 28 are $12. General tickets are $17. A complete performance schedule including dates, times, and ticket prices appears at the end of this release.

Company One presents the New England premiere of Providence playwright Mia Chung's YOU FOR ME FOR YOU, an imaginative tale of two North Korean sisters who contemplate fleeing their homeland. The story relies heavily on magical realism and suspension of disbelief; not for the cynics in the audience.

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has scheduled two American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performances and one audio described performance of the family production of The Snow Queen and two ASL interpreted performances and two audio described performances of the world premiere production Wild Swans based on the bestselling memoir by Jung Chang. Snow Queen ASL performances: Sunday, December 11 at 10:30 am and Friday, December 30 at 3:00 pm,with interpreters Rachel Judelson and Jeannette Ocampo Welch, and coach Michael Krajnak. The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), under the Artistic Direction of Diane Paulus, is adding to the already announced season a special family-oriented production - The Snow Queen, Hans Christian Andersen's exuberant ode to childhood. The new stage adaptation for children and their families by Tyler Monroe is directed by Allegra Libonati, with original puppets by Michael Kane, and featuring members of the A.R.T. Institute Class of 2012. The production opens at the Loeb Drama Center on December 10 and runs through December 31.
