The Alley Theatre was founded over sixty years ago as Houston's theatre company. It exists to provide audiences with the highest quality theatre, offering a wide variety of work including new plays, classics, the re-discovered and the rarely-performed, and new musical theatre, with an emphasis on new American works - to provide the inspirational and the provocative - to make our audiences think, feel, dream and be entertained. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Gregory Boyd and Managing Director Dean Gladden, the Alley is committed to moving forward to increase its reach into the community, to further its collaboration with the best theatre artists working today, and to encourage and cultivate the new voices, new work, new artists of the American theatre. ABT Announces 2011 Spring Season at the Met

American Ballet Theatre's 2011 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 16-July 9, was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Highlights of the season include World Premieres by Alexei Ratmansky and Christopher Wheeldon, the New York Company Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's The Bright Stream and the U.S. Premiere of a new work by Benjamin Millepied. Principal Dancers for the 2011 Metropolitan Opera Season include Maxim Beloserkovsky, Roberto Bolle, Jose Manuel Carreņo, Angel Corella, Herman Cornejo, Irina Dvorovenko, Marcelo Gomes, David Hallberg, Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent, Gillian Murphy, Veronika Part, Xiomara Reyes, Ethan Stiefel, Diana Vishneva and Michele Wiles. Natalia Osipova, a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet, and Alina Cojocaru, a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet, will return for the Spring season as guest artists. (more...)

Alley Set for BEHANDING Regional Premiere; Season Announced

Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced that the Alley Theatre subscription season, the Theatre's 64th, will combine two world premieres, including Rajiv Joseph's psychological thriller The Medusa Body and Herbert Siguenza's new solo play A Weekend With Pablo Picasso, with new large-scale productions of Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up, the fantasy by J.M. Barrie, Pygmalion, George Bernard Shaw's great romantic comedy and Amadeus, Peter Shaffer's Tony Award-winning play. (more...)

Wildhorn's WONDERLAND Among World Premieres Announced For Alley Theatre's 63rd Season

Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced that the Alley Theatre subscription season - the Theatre's 63rd - will combine three world premieres, including Frank Wildhorn's new musical Wonderland, Rajiv Joseph's bold and theatrical Gruesome Playground Injuries and Kenneth Lin's gripping Intelligence-Slave, along with re-imagined productions of the great American classic Our Town by Thornton Wilder and the sublime fantasy Harvey by Mary Chase.
