Mickey Mouse Club fans had a lot to celebrate last Saturday in Orlando. The Opelika Songwriters Festival, a new annual event based in Opelika, Alabama, has added Shawn Mullins as the headliner for the festival, which will entertain music fans at its inaugural celebration over Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26, 2019) at multiple venues in the town's historic downtown. Opelika recording studio/event center The Sound Wall and Russell Carter Artist Management out of Atlanta (producer of the 30A Songwriters Festival in Florida) are co-producing the event in conjunction with The Arts Association of East Alabama. Confirmed sponsors include the City of Opelika, Auburn Opelika Tourism, Opelika Observer, W. James Samford Jr Foundation, United Johnson Brothers of Alabama, Wings 94.3FM, ESPN 106.7FM, WANI 98.7FM, WLEE 96.3FM, Autosport Bodyworks, Auburn Bank, and Sundilla Concert Series. A portion of the net proceeds from the festival go to benefit The Arts Association of East Alabama. Attendees from across the Southeast and further afield are expected to gather for this very special event.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Tony Lucca is flexing his Americana muscles on his forthcoming new album,Ain't No Storm, which he will be releasing on March 29, 2019.  Ain't No Storm reads like a who's who of East Nashville notables: Ken Coomer produced the record at his studio, Cartoon Moon, great Nashville players like Michael Webb, Ted Pecchio, and Joe Garcia lent their talents — and even Patrick Sweany stopped in for a cameo on “Room With A View.” Replete with songs borne of his admiration for Nashville's rich history – the town's creative community ultimately fueled Lucca's return to the studio and inspired the new album – Ain't No Storm finds Lucca embracing with reverence the process and craft of songwriting and taking his time (more than two years) to get it right.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Tony Lucca is set to hit the road beginning in October for a tour run with Tom Mackell that will visit the East Coast, Northeast, and Midwest for 17 dates (see below for complete tour schedule).  Lucca's dates will be in support of his new standalone single, “Nashville,” which will be available for purchase on August 31, 2018 and is being released via AWAL/Kobalt.  

The 26th Annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival Presented by Regions Bank is right around the corner, and each year receipts from the door of one show are donated to a local non-profit organization. This year's beneficiary is Musicians Corner, a program of The Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park, set for Friday, April 6, 6:30 p.m. at The Local and is scheduled to feature Kris Allen, Leigh Nash, Tony Lucca, Emily West.
