The Long Beach Playhouse Studio Theatre opens its 2015 season with Rajiv Joseph's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. The story opens at the Baghdad Zoo as a hungry tiger bites off the hand of an American Marine. The Marine shoots the tiger, freeing its spirit to wander the streets of Baghdad raging against God and trying to make sense of war and its effect on humanity. Meanwhile the two Marines and an Iraqi gardener search through the rubble of the war looking for a toilet seat made of gold and finding a once beautiful Eden a war torn wasteland. (more...)

The Ogunquit Playhouse has announced the appointment of Brian Swasey to the position of Associate Producer. Brian is no stranger to the Playhouse as he directed the productions of The Berenstain Bears, and The Cat In The Hat. He is also no stranger to the seacoast area; he is originally from Portland, Maine, and is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Musical Theatre and Dance. Brian Swasey recently stated, 'Growing up in New England, and seeing many shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse, I leapt at the chance to return to the area and become a part of the Playhouse family as the new Associate Producer." The Winter Park Playhouse concludes its popular 2014-2015 series of professional musical theatre with the upcoming Mainstage production, Putting It Together, April 17 - May 9. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:00 pm. Additional matinee performances include Sunday, April 26 and May 3 at 2:00 pm, Friday April 24 and Wednesday May 6 at 2:00 pm. Fault Lines depicts the human response to the devastating earthquakes in Christchurch and the Sichuan province of China. The show had its world premiere at the Melbourne Festival in October 2012 in a unique collaboration between New Zealand choreographer Sara Brodie and China's Sichuan province-based Leshan Song & Dance Troupe. Now this critically acclaimed production is touring to Sydney and Canberra from 11 to 16 June 2015. (more...)
