STAGES St. Louis has announced that the box office sensation, Always... Patsy Cline at The Playhouse at Westport Plaza will continue September 18th to October 12th. The theatre company's momentous production of Always... Patsy Cline will play five performances per week Thursday through Sunday, following a brief two week hiatus. Always... Patsy Cline was originally produced by STAGES during its record-breaking 27th Season, which resulted in two added performances and historic attendance. Nightly, the audiences stopped the show with thunderous applause for numbers like 'Crazy,' 'Lovesick Blues,' and 'Your Cheating Heart.' (more...)

WITNESS UGANDA Creators to Perform in Weston Playhouse Benefit Concert, 8/31

When Griffin Matthews, a young black American from New York City, ventured to Uganda in 2005 to help build a village school, he had no idea what a life-changing journey it would be. His six-week experience, in the company of a group of orphaned teenagers compelled the young writer/director/actor to want to do something to improve their quality of life. First he formed a non-profit aid organization, the Uganda Project, and later, after returning to the village year after year, Matthews, in a collaboration with Matt Gould, wrote the award-winning musical Witness Uganda which has brought new funding to the project. Having its world premiere at the American Repertory Theater earlier this year, the two men will perform a concert version of the musical at a Sunday, August 31st special Weston Playhouse event. Cumberland County Playhouse to Welcome Ron Murphy & Lauren Marshall, 8/22

On August 22, Cumberland County Playhouse will present Ron Murphy & Lauren Marshall: From A(udra) to Z(eppelin), a one night only concert with one of the most eclectic music mixes you've ever heard. Producer Jim Crabtree came up with the idea for the concert when he heard Ron and Lauren performing some jazz tunes in the lobby. Said Lauren Marshall, "Jim approached us about doing a concert that would showcase the many different genres of music we enjoy. Ron and I both enjoy Zep; who doesn't? I'm a huge fan of that whole musical genre - The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones. We thought, why not try to adapt the guitar-heavy sound of Led Zeppelin into our style (which for this concert includes a grand piano, keyboard, drums and bass)? It's been challenging, but oh, so much fun." (more...)

The world's most famous fictional sleuth adds a novel chapter to his repertoire with playwright Jeffrey Hatcher's electrifying new whodunit SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB, which opens the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's 55th season. The play is an inventive mash-up of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic characters and the Robert Louis Stevenson short story "The Suicide Club," providing a clever, intricately woven new mystery for Holmes to deduce. SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB runs Sept. 6 through Oct. 4 in the Robert S. Marx Theatre. (more...)

Hackmatack Playhouse Artistic Director Sharon Hilton to Step Down this Year

Hackmatack Playhouse Executive Producer and owner has announced that Artistic Director Sharon Hilton will be stepping down at the end of the 2014 summer season and will be spending her time working on other projects. Hilton has been involved with The Playhouse since it's inception in 1972, and has been Artistic Director for the past 12 years. She stated, "after many years it is time to bring new energies to the Hackmatack Playhouse". (more...)
