When his supervisor lies in a murder investigation, Jeff's loyalty is put to the test. Will Jeff do the right thing for the wrong reasons or the wrong thing for the right reasons?

Today we are talking to the eponymous star of SHELLS herself - Roslyn Hart - in addition to the writer/director of the (mostly) one-woman-show, Nick Chase, that is equal parts 21st century party girl antics, Sandra Bernhard-esque confessionals, songs evocative of Kiki & Herb, and Joan Rivers-style in-your-face humor - all with an ultra-twenty-first century, tongue-in-cheek spin parodying the vacuous personalities of the people on magazine covers today and sending up the excesses of our own society and what we value. Plus, there are some specially selected song choices on display for all to enjoy, as well - ranging from outrageous original material to covers of songs such as Marilyn Manson's 'The Beautiful People' and Janet Jackson's 'If' - and, as a special bonus, performance clips of both those numbers from SHELLS are also available at the end of the article! Manhattan Theatre Club presented their annual Spring Gala last night, May 16, a special evening highlighting some of Broadway's most exciting shows, on Monday, May 16 at Gotham Hall. MTC's artistic director Lynne Meadow directed the evening, which was hosted by Tate Donovan (Good People) and Lily Rabe (The American Plan). The gala featured performances from the hit shows Baby It's You!, Catch Me If You Can, MTC's upcoming production of Master Class, Memphis, Rain, and Wicked. Yesterday evening, May 16, The New York Drama Critics' Circle presented their 2011 Drama Critics Circle Awards at Angus McIndoe Restaurant in Times Square. The 2011 recipients are Best Play: Good People, by David Lindsay-Abaire; Best Foreign Play: Jerusalem, by Jez Butterworth; Best Musical: The Book of Mormon, by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez; Special Citations: The Broadway revival of The Normal Heart; Mark Rylance for La Bête and Jerusalem; and the direction, design and puppetry of War Horse.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of David Lindsay-Abaire's GOOD PEOPLE, the critically acclaimed new American play directed by Daniel Sullivan, plays through Sunday, May 29. THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT, by Stephen Adly Guirgis and starring Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra and Yul Vázquez, opened last night at the Gerald Schoenfeld Thetare (236 West 45th Street, New York City). The 2009 Drama Desk Award winner and 2010 Bistro Award winner Celebrity Autobiography performs Monday, April 11 at 9:00pm at New York's Triad Theater, 158 West 72 Street, with a cast that is scheduled to include Mario Cantone, Tate Donovan, Susie Essman, Tovah Feldshuh, Marsha Mason, Eugene Pack, Dayle Reyfel, and Alan Zweibel. The evening will feature a special tribute to Elizabeth Taylor, who is a central character in one of Celebrity Autobiography's signature pieces.

If Bill Clinton really was, as Toni Morrison put it, America's first black president, then perhaps it's about time we crowned David Lindsay-Abaire as America's leading female playwright.  Since first gaining major attention in 1999 with Fuddy Meers, and including major productions such as Kimberly Akimbo, Wonder of the World and the Pulitzer-winning Rabbit Hole, Lindsay-Abaire (whose surname is a hyphenated combination of his and his wife's last names) has been continually filling stages with unique and interesting women as his leading characters.

Today Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) affirmed Manhattan Theatre Club's ongoing commitment to making affordable tickets available to young theatergoers by offering a limited number of $30 tickets to every performance of the hit play GOOD PEOPLE via MTC's '30 Under 30' program.
