The Old Globe welcomes Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, making his musical directing debut with RAIN, a sumptuous world premiere musical by one of the most significant teams working in theatre today: composer and lyricist Michael John LaChiusa and book writer Sybille Pearson. Based on the short story by Somerset Maugham, RAIN will play now through May 1, 2016 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Happy Holidays! It's the last week to vote for the 2015 BroadwayWorld Miami Regional Awards! Check out the latest live stats as of December 18. Nominations were reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors. Voting runs through December 31!

The box office officially opens today for the World Premiere of School of Rock - The Musical at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway). Previews will begin on Monday, November 9, 2015, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6, 2015. Transport Group, the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and OBIE Award-winning theatre company, by special arrangement with Tony Award winning producer Larry Hirschhorn, will give a private developmental lab presentation of Benny & Joon, a new musical. Based on the 1993 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture starring Aidan Quinn, Johnny Depp, and Mary Stuart Masterson, written by Barry Berman and Leslie McNeil, Benny & Joon features a book by Kirsten Guenther (Breaking Through), music by Nolan Gasser (chief musicologist of pandora.com), and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein (Little Women). Under the direction of Transport Group Artistic Director and five-time Drama Desk nominee Jack Cummings III, the cast features Andrew Samonsky as 'Benny' (Queen of the Mist), Hannah Elless as 'Joon' (Bright Star),Colin Hanlon (Submissions Only), Mamie Parris (See Rock City & Other Destinations), Zak Resnick (Piece of My Heart), Tally Sessions (House of Blue Leaves), Natalie Toro (A Tale of Two Cities), and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Things to Ruin). John DiPinto will music direct.

Studio Theatre's 2nd Stage has been transformed into a cabaret theatre, complete with proscenium running lights and a runway that would make any Mama Rose proud.  With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the familiar story of Jonathan Demme's Oscar Winning 1991 film, "Silence of the Lambs," comes to life. 

Olney Theatre Center, a Mid-Atlantic destination for extraordinary theater performance and education, celebrates the 70th Anniversary of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel with a reimagined production of the classic musical, running April 15 - May 10, 2015 on the Mainstage.

The New (Orleans) Musical, Bourbon Street will get an industry reading on Monday, March 9 at 1 pm& 6pm at Chelsea Studios (151 West 26th Street). Bourbon Street has music and lyrics by Greg Michael Pasqua, book by K. Gehrig, and will directed by Jonathan Cerullo with musical direction by John McMahon.

This is our last week up here, and therefore my last blog. Don't be too sad though. I will be recapping the new season of "The Bachelor" beginning in January for BroadwayWorld! Every. Single. Week. I'll let you decide if that's threat or not.

Actors' Playhouse has announced casting for it's regional premiere production of the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime playing January 28 - February 22, 2015 at the Miracle Theatre.

"An Old-Fashioned Walk" or, I cheated on this title a little because I have a car Good day, friends! This week, I would like to take you through a week in my life at Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn, currently playing at the Goodspeed Opera House. I call this "An Old-Fashioned Walk" because a large majority of the company do not have vehicles up here, so they are old-fashioned walking everywhere. Also, since everything seems to be a 20 minute drive away, we old-fashioned walk to the theatre every day. And to 32 Main, the coffee shop up the hill. And to the liquor store across the street. Plus, I old-fashioned walk my dog, Milo, every single day, like 47 times a day, so my whole life seems to be old-fashioned walking. Thank goodness I have a FitBit to tell me if I'm old-fashioned walking enough every day!
