PlayMakers Presents IMAGINARY INVALID, Opening 10/24

PlayMakers Repertory Company, the professional theater in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has announced its world premiere adaptation of the insightful Moliere comedy "Imaginary Invalid," on stage Oct. 24-Nov. 11 in the Paul Green Theatre at UNC's Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road.

STC Names Emery Battis Award Honorees: Carson Elrod and Steven Epp

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) congratulates this year's winners of the Emery Battis Acting Award, Carson Elrod and Steven Epp. Since 2010, STC has recognized two actors per season who have demonstrated exceptional skill and technique on the stage. Elrod and Epp were lauded for their incredible performances as Crispin in The Heir Apparent and Truffaldino in The Servant of Two Masters, respectively. The award was presented September 24 at the opening night dinner for STC's first 2012-2013 production, The Government Inspector, hosted by the Board of Trustees.

The Connecticut Critics Circle has named Quiara Alegaria Hudes' WATER BY THE SPOONFUL as the best play of the 2011-2012 season. The CCC awards ceremony is scheduled to be held today, June 24 at 2PM at the Mark Twain House & Museum, and is open to the public.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces casting for the two remaining productions of their 25th Anniversary Season. In the coming week, by tuning into KQED 9, local television viewers can get a taste of the intimacy and adventure that theatregoers regularly enjoy at the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre. First, Anna Deavere Smith's electrifying solo show Let Me Down Easy airs on PBS' Great Performances. Then KQED debuts The Memory Be Green, an original documentary about the world-premiere production of Ghost Light.
