St. Malachy's - The Actors Chapel will present a star-studded musical extravaganza with The Voices United Choral Festival on Monday, November 12 at 7:30 at NY's legendary Beacon Theatre (2124 Broadway). Over 600 performers will gather under the direction of the internationally celebrated conductor Eric Knapp with the evening being hosted by famed author Raymond Arroyo and featuring special performances by Broadway's Ryan Silverman (more to be announced).
Mark Blum Joins The New Group's THE GOOD MOTHER Off-Broadway, 10/29-12/22

Mark Blum has joined the cast of The New Group's The Good Mother, written by Francine Volpe and directed by Scott Elliott. He joins Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen in the premiere of this new play, replacing the previously announced Bill Sage, who had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict prior to start of rehearsals. Mark Blum's Broadway credits include Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Twelve Angry Men, A Thousand Clowns, Lost in Yonkers, and more. He has appeared previously at The New Group in Wallace Shawn and Allen Shawn's play/opera The Music Teacher, among others.

Lemon, a new documentary about the acclaimed New York poet/playwright Lemon Andersen, will have its broadcast premiere on PBS as part of Latino Public Broadcasting's arts and culture series VOCES on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET (check local listings), in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. Produced and directed by Laura Brownson and Beth Levison, Lemon is a Russell Simmons presentation in association with Impact Partners.

Cornel West Set for Stella Adler Studio of Acting Festival Panel Tonight, 9/24

The prominent and provocative racial justice scholar Cornel West is a well-known intellectual, but less well known is his love of Chekhov, the writings of Stella Adler and the theater. Dr. West values arts education for disadvantaged youth and is an aficionado of legendary acting teacher Stella Adler. As part of the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, Dr. West will participate in a panel discussion about the relationship between access to arts education and economic and social justice. The panel will follow a performance of Julius Caesar by students of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Outreach Division.

The New Group will present the first production in its 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of The Good Mother, a new play by Francine Volpe. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso, Eric Nelsen and Bill Sage. Previews begin October 29 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm. A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through December 22 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street / Acorn Theatre).

Directed by Ken Schatz and starring Andrus Nichols (Off-Broadway's Saint Joan), performances begin tonight September 14th at The Dorothy Strelsin Theatre at The Abingdon Theater Arts Complex. Opening night is sceduled for Friday, September 21st.
