Berkshire Theatre Group and Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire have announced the Summer 2014 Theatre Season offering classic works coupled with contemporary plays.

Steven Rattazzi steps into the role of legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby in King Kirby, a play by the husband-and-wife team of NYIT-award winning playwright Crystal Skillman and New York Times bestselling comics writer Fred Van Lente at the Comic Book Theater Festival at The Brick this June.

Teacher Al D'Andrea and his students will use a variety of games, exercises, techniques and improvisations to take an in-depth look at how to develop and embody a character in a play from the ground up with both imagination and authenticity. Major aspects of character that will be explored include character wants and needs, attitudes, traits, physicality and emotional life, as well as how and why a character moves, speaks, thinks, feels, engages in physical activities, and pursues actions and objectives in a particular way.

Opening tonight, May 28th at 7:00 p.m., Collected Stories runs Wednesdays through Sundays until June 21st.

More than 35 actors are set to participate in The Blank Theatre's 22nd Annual Young Playwrights Festival, including Sara Gilbert (Roseanne, The Talk, The Big Bang Theory), Curt Hansen (A Snow White Christmas, Wicked), Scott Lowell (Queer As Folk), Michael Grant Terry (Bones), Angel Parker (Lab Rats), Ellen D. Williams (How I Met Your Mother), and Jessy Schram (Falling Skies, Mad Men). Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 16 -19 from seven different states will be presented during this year's festival at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, running from June 5-29.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), under the leadership of Julianne Boyd Artistic Director and Tristan Wilson Managing Director, announces Stephanie Yankwitt as Artistic Associate/Director of New Play Development. Prior to joining the team at BSC, Stephanie was on the senior artistic staff at the Hangar Theatre from 2009-2013, including the role of Interim Artistic Director for the 2013 season.
