MARY POPPINS continues to fly high, celebrating five magical years on Broadway on Wednesday, November 16 (previews began October 14, 2006 at the New Amsterdam Theatre). MARY POPPINS is the third Disney Theatrical Productions show (following Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King) and the fifth Cameron Mackintosh show (joining Cats, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon) to play five or more years on Broadway.

In honor of the 5th anniversary of Mary Poppins on Broadway, Mary Poppins (Steffanie Leigh), along with a crew of Chimney Sweeps 'flipped the switch' and lit the world-famous Empire State Building's tower lights blue, the signature color of the production. Cameron Mathison ('All My Children,' 'Good Morning America') made his Broadway debut on Wednesday, November 2 in a cameo role in MARY POPPINS at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Mathison's performance will be shown as a part of a special 'Good Morning America' segment celebrating the 5th anniversary of MARY POPPINS on Broadway, airing Monday, November 7th at 7AM on ABC (schedule subject to change), in which he becomes the first non-cast member in the show's 7 year history to attempt Bert's 'proscenium walk.' Following the performance, Mathison, Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins), and Case Dillard (Bert at that evening's performance) were greeted backstage by Mathison's former 'All My Children' co-star, Susan Lucci. Direct from the North American tour of MARY POPPINS, Steffanie Leigh made her Broadway debut in the title role last night, October 11 at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Olivier Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly, The West End's original MARY POPPINS, played her final performance on Broadway Sunday, October 9.
