Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble Returns to the U.S. With Award-Winning Chinese Dance-Drama DRAGON BOAT RACING

DRAGON BOAT RACING, an award-winning Chinese dance-drama performed by the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble, returns to the United States for two limited engagements at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater (Washington, DC) February 2-4 and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Merriam Theater (Philadelphia, PA) February 7 and 8. This epic ballet tells the story of the creation of one of the most iconic and enduring pieces of Cantonese music. Set in 1930s China against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation, DRAGON BOAT RACING follows two lovers whose passion for each other is equaled only by their passion for music. It tells the story of how one of the finest and most famous Cantonese compositions became a musical theme that inspired an entire nation.

The series of daytime performances is comprised of titles that connect with PreK-12 grade curriculum. Following their recent sold-out run featuring the U.S. premiere of the Peking Opera star Zhang Huoding, the China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) returns to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center with DRAGON BOAT RACING, a production of the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble that blends traditional Cantonese music and history with state-of-the-art theatrical artistry, from January 7-10, 2016. DRAGON BOAT RACING is written by Tang Dong with music by Du Ming, and is directed and choreographed by Zhou Liya and Han Zhen.

Halle Berry, Guillermo del Toro, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Renner, Charlie Hunnam and Hans Zimmer will accept key honors for their work at the Huading Film Awards at The Montalban Theater in Los Angeles on June 1st. This historic event will allow American motion picture artists to directly acknowledge and express thanks to Chinese moviegoers who support their films. Industry legend Don Mischer will produce the event.
