Soho Rep. Meets Fundraising Goal Following Cancelled Gala

On March 31, 300 friends, artists and supporters gathered to celebrate and honor Soho Rep.'s Board Chair Jon Dembrow at their annual spring gala. Forty-five minutes into the evening, the beam supporting a second-story balcony at the event venue, Angel Orensanz Center, cracked. The building was deemed unsafe and all the guests were evacuated by the FDNY. The cancellation of the event and on-site auction left Soho Rep. with a projected end-of-the-fiscal-year deficit of $68,000. (more...)

MCC Theater has announced the extension of the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, starring indie film actress Greta Gerwig, and featuring direction by Sam Gold. The production is now scheduled at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) through Sunday, July 13, 2014. It was previously scheduled through June 28th. MCC THEATER has announced that indie film star Greta Gerwig will now be joined by Max Baker, Jason Butler Harner, Lucy Owen, Cara Seymour, and Scott Shepherd in the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, the final production of MCC's 2013-14 Main Stage season. This completes casting. The Village Bike-which begins rehearsals today-will be directed by Sam Gold, who recently directed the much-raved new musical Fun Home and this season's The Realistic Jones on Broadway.
