Rialto Chatter: Will Scott Rudin Bring Stephen Karam's THE HUMANS to Broadway?

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Stephen Karam's The Humans featuring Cassie Beck ,Reed Birney, Jayne Houdyshell, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed and Sarah Steele, just opened earlier this week, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, the show might have a life after off Broadway. David Rooney writes that producer Scott Rudin will transfer the production (full cast included) to Broadway in 2016.

The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 22nd Living Landmarks Celebration on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at The Plaza at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, New York City. BroadwayWorld has learned that among this year's honorees are Broadway impresarios Phil Smith and Bob Wankel. Not only that, but special presenters also include Bernadette Peters and Joel Grey, with Brian Stokes Mitchell slated to perform.

Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams will return to Broadway this season to star in David Harrower's Olivier Award-winning drama BLACKBIRD.  The production, to be directed by Joe Mantello, will begin previews Friday, February 5, and open on Thursday, March 10, at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44thStreet).  BLACKBIRD will play an 18-week limited engagement through June 12, 2016.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, who will star next spring in Shuffle Along Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, will take a break from the show next summer. An official show rep commented: 'Due to a pre-existing commitment, Audra McDonald will not appear in Shuffle Along from Tuesday, June 21 to Sunday, September 25, 2016.  Miss McDonald will return to Shuffle Along beginning Tuesday, September 27 and is currently contracted to stay with the production through  Sunday, June 11, 2017.'
