Playwrights' Center McKnight Theater Artists to Present Works in Progress, 6/16

The 2013-14 Playwrights' Center McKnight Theater Artist Fellows Sun Mee Chomet, Denise Prosek and Stephen Yoakam, along with their collaborators, will present selections from works in progress on June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Southern Theater. The event is free and open to the public; advance reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at www.pwcenter.org. Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced ten mainstage productions in his final season at the helm of the world renowned theater, culminating 20 years of remarkable leadership. The 2014-2015 lineup includes first-time Guthrie productions of plays by A.R. Gurney, Anne Washburn and Sarah Ruhl, three productions directed by Dowling, including a beloved Shakespeare comedy and iconic masterpieces by Arthur Miller and Sean O'Casey, the Guthrie debut of visionary writer and director Mary Zimmerman, as well as an all-American musical slated for summer. Guthrie Theater Offers First-Ever 'Tweet Seats', Beginning Tonight at THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS

The Guthrie Theater today announced that beginning tonight, December 27, the theater will offer its first-ever 'Tweet Seats' during four consecutive Thursday performances of The Servant of Two Masters, allowing social media users an opportunity to interact during the show. A limited number of seats located in a balcony level of the McGuire Proscenium in a section that will not be disruptive to other patrons will be designated as Tweet Seats. Tweet Seat tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, and mentioning 'Tweet.' Tickets are not available online, with other offers, or on previously purchased tickets. Handing fees may apply. (more...)

Adapted by Constance Congdon from a translation of Carlo Goldoni by Christina Sibul, this comedy features Steven Epp (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Caretaker; Theatre de la Jeune Lune: actor, writer, director, co-artistic director 1983-2008) as the wily servant Truffaldino and Guthrie favorite Sarah Agnew (Guthrie: Time Stands Still, The 39 Steps; Theatre de la Jeune Lune company member 1995-2001) as the strong-willed Beatrice in the story of a servant scheming to fill his pockets and his stomach by serving two masters at once.
