 CBS All Access today announced the second season renewal of its latest original series, THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

Jay-Z Named President's Award Recipient for 50th NAACP Image Awards

The NAACP today announced that globally dominant pop culture icon Shawn 'JAY-Z' Carter will receive the prestigious President's Award during the 50th NAACP Image Awards. The President's Award is presented in recognition of a special achievement and distinguished public service with previous recipients including Jesse Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Soledad O'Brien, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, and Muhammad Ali among others. NAACP President Derrick Johnson will present the award to Shawn 'JAY-Z' Carter during a LIVE TV special on TV One on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Anthony Anderson.

Chris O'Dowd to Star in Episode of CBS All Access' THE TWILIGHT ZONE

Chris O'Dowd will be moving into a land of both shadow and substance in THE TWILIGHT ZONE. O'Dowd will star in the episode titled “The Blue Scorpion,” written by Glen Morgan, which will also feature Amy Landecker.

That's the signpost up ahead for Seth Rogen, as he will star in an upcoming episode of THE TWILIGHT ZONE written by Alex Rubens. THE TWILIGHT ZONE will debut with two episodes on Monday, April 1. Following the series premiere, new episodes of the anthology series will be available on demand weekly on Thursdays beginning April 11, exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.

HBO Films Drama NATIVE SON, Based On The Classic Novel By Richard Wright, Debuts 4/6

The HBO Films presentation NATIVE SON, based on the classic novel by Richard Wright, will debut SATURDAY, APRIL 6 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO, it was announced today by Len Amato, president, HBO Films. Directed by first-time director and renowned visual artist Rashid Johnson from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (“Topdog/Underdog”), the drama had its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.

Regina King, Sanaa Lathan and Elaine Welteroth have been confirmed as presenters for the 12th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills, CA on Thursday, February 21, 2019.  Adding to the 'Black Girl Magic' on stage will be a performance by award-winning singer and actress Amber Riley.  This year, ESSENCE celebrates the global influence of Hollywood's leading female artist-activists and will honor actress Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give”), actress/singer and author Jenifer Lewis (“Black-ish”), actress KiKi Layne (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) and actress Regina Hall (“Shaft”). The event will be hosted by singer/actress Kelly Rowland.

Showtime Honored With Seven NAACP Image Award Nominations

SHOWTIME has been nominated for seven NAACP Image Awards, led by five for the network's hit drama, THE CHI – including Outstanding Drama Series. THE CHI received more nominations than any other cable drama and tied for most nominations among dramas overall. Series creator and executive producer Lena Waithe earned a solo NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series and shared in another with Dime Davis. SHOWTIME also received three acting nominations for Jason Mitchell and Alex R. Hibbert of THE CHI and Sanaa Lathan of THE AFFAIR. In addition, SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE, executive produced by LeBron James, was nominated for Outstanding Documentary (Television).
