Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid, Jersey Boys), Eric Michael Krop (Godspell), "Barely Legal" alum Danielle Wade (Winner "Over the Rainbow Canada," Dorothy in Wizard of Oz North American tour) and host Natalie Weiss (Les Miserables, Everyday Rapture, "American Idol") join the selected cast of musical theater writing team Sam Carner and Derek Gregor's 6th Annual "Barely Legal Show-Tune Extravaganza" in performance on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm at New York's premier cabaret venue 54 Below, 254 W 54th St. The annual "Barely Legal" program invites a select group of college student performers with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend week-long intensive workshops led by Broadway stars, casting directors, agents, actors and more, culminating in concerts at 54 Below. David Alpert to Direct Reading of BARNYARD FOLLIES , 5/28

Barnyard Follies is a new musical intended for young performers, written by Sam Carner of the Carner & Gregor team (Unlock'd, Island Song). Directing the reading is David Alpert (Associate Director of If/Then, The Best Man, A Trip to Bountiful) and musical direction is provided by Jason Wetzel (Assistant Conductor for After Midnight and numerous touring credits including Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone). The cast features 24 young performers ranging in age from seven to nineteen and includes Sebastian Hedges Thomas, currently on Broadway as Young Charlie in Kinky Boots. The reading will take place at 6pm on May 28th at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons. (more...)

The critically acclaimed musical Mama and Her Boys will close following tonight's performance. Previews began February 11 toward a February 18 opening. Originally slated to run through March 4, Mama and Her Boys was twice extended. Upon its close, the show will have enjoyed a 13-week run. (more...)

Due to overwhelming ticket demand the critically acclaimed musical Mama and Her Boys has again extended it's return New York engagement. Tickets are now on sale through May 7. Performances continue Todays at 8:30pm at Sophies at Broadway, 318 W. 53rd St. between 8th and 9th Avenue. Creators and original cast members Ethan Paulini and Wendy Watson will appear on April 23 and May 7. The current cast includes original New York cast member Erik Keiser joined by Sarah Kleeman and Steven Boyd Baker. Paulini will stage and choreograph with musical direction by Lilli Wosk. Co-Creator Christopher Sidoli serves as musical consultant and Tony nominee Linda Kline serves as script consultant. The score features contributions from Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, Drew Overcash, Sally Fingerett and Tony nominee Lucy Simon. The run is produced by CEW Productions and Sophies. Cristin J. Hubbard will join the cast of the hit Off-Broadway musical Mama and Her Boys April 23 and May 7. Hubbard has appeared on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera (she returns to the Broadway company June 30 in the role of Madame Giry) and The Pirate Queen. She joins original cast members/creators Ethan Paulini, Wendy Watson and original New York cast member Erik Keiser on 4/23. On 5/7, the third original cast member Christopher Sidoli will join the cast. (more...)

Coleen Sexton will join the cast of the hit Off-Broadway musical Mama and Her Boys April 30. Sexton has appeared on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde and Off-Broadway in Forever Dusty. Her national tour credits include Wicked and Legally Blonde. She is also a member of the Broadway Dolls. She joins current New York cast members Erik Keiser, Steven Boyd Baker and Sarah Kleeman on 4/30. Sexton joins previously announced guest star Cristin J.
