NBCUniversal and top television host, broadcaster and Emmy-winning producer Ryan Seacrest have forged a groundbreaking multi-platform agreement that includes on-air, broadcasting and producing duties across the company's NBC and E! networks. The new two-year deal extends Seacrest's current on-air presence with E! onto NBC, spanning news, entertainment and sports programming.

Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artist Carrie Underwood will perform on next week's AMERICAN IDOL. One of AMERICAN IDOL's most successful winners, Underwood has sold more than 12 million records worldwide. Another Grammy Award-winning, chart-topping act, the world-famous alternative rock band Coldplay, also will perform, hitting the IDOL stage for the first time.

Bob Costas, a 22-time Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, returns as the primetime host for NBC's coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games, which begin Friday, July 27. For Costas, this marks his 10th Olympic broadcast assignment and his ninth as the primetime host (Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sidney 2000, Salt Lake City, 2002, Athens 2004, Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010).

As first reported on TVLine.com, the theme for this Wednesday night's AMERICAN IDOL will be 'Now & Then', with each of the remaining 7 contestants singing two songs, a number one Billboard hit from 2000 to 2012, and a "soul" song from a previous decade.

According to a report by Deadline.com, Kelsey Grammer, Calista Flockhart and Kiefer Sutherland join previously announced FOX's 25th Anniversary Special participant Ryan Seacrest of American Idol, now set to host the event, which will air on April 22.
