35MM Cast Recording Receives August Digital Release, September in Stores

Producer John Johnson announced today that the debut album from composer Ryan Scott Oliver, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (Original Cast Recording), will be released digitally on Tuesday, August 14th by Ghostlight Records. The album will be available in stores on Tuesday, September 11th. (Pre-orders for the recording are now being taken at http://sh-k-boom.com/35mm.shtml.) An album release concert is being planned for mid-September, about which additional details will be announced shortly.

American Theatre Wing Now Accepting Applications for 2013 Jonathan Larson Grants; Deadline 9/14

The grants, given annually to honor emerging composers, lyricists and book writers, help to continue Tony Award-winning composer Jonathan Larson's dream of infusing musical theatre with a contemporary, joyful, urban vitality.

PEOPLE YOU MAY KNOW (PYMK) Cabaret Series, will present version 3.0 in its popular evening of songs dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the work of new composing artists and the work that has been influential in shaping them. Featured in PYMK version 3.0 will be the works of Jeff Blumenkrantz (recipient of the 2012 Fred Ebb Award); Barry Anderson & Mark Petty ("The Songwriter's Union"); and Michael Kooman & Christopher Dimond ("Dani Girl"), along with the works that inspired them. Performances of PYMK version 3.0 will be Monday, July 30 at 7:00pm and Thursday, August 9 at 9:00pm at the Triad Theatre (158 W. 72nd Street) in Manhattan.

The 'crowd fundraising' site Kickstarter has just released is site statistics: 25,407 projects have been funded successfully on Kickstarter - and of those, 7,493 were music-related, 6,759 were film and video projects, 2,566 were art, and 1,921 were theater, amounting to almost three-quarters of all successful campaigns and totalling to over $100 million.

New York Theatre Barn to Launch 6th Annual NYTB Concert Series, 7/9

New York Theatre Barn (Joe Barros, Artistic Director; Jason Najjoum, Producing Director; Barry Levine, Managing Director) will launch the 6th consecutive year of its acclaimed monthly platform for emerging musical theater writers, NYTB in the D-Lounge, on July 9, 2012 at the D-Lounge of the Daryl Roth Theatre. Featured writing teams will be Charlie Sohne and Tim Rosser, and Adam Spiegel and Dan Wolpow, all alumni of the Tony Award-winning BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Pace University's Musical Theatre Class of 2015 presented a cabaret on May 4th and 5th at at Joe's Pub. The show, entitled Hatched, was a presentation of notable composers' works written in the past three months, including the likes of Shaina Taub, Niko Tsakalakos, Gordon Leary, Julia Meinwald, Drew Gasparini, Zoe Sarnak, Ryan Scott Oliver, and the students of Pace's Inaugural 'Writing for the Musical Theatre' class.
