Creator Rupert Holmes and star Will Chase of Roundabout Theatre Company's The Mystery of Edwin Drood will be interviewed on "Theater Talk" beginning tonight, December 28 at 1am (early Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS (channel 13). Additional air times are December 29 at 8:30PM, December 30 at 12:30PM, and December 31 at 7:30AM, 1:30PM and 7:30PM. As 2012 comes to a close, many Austin theater companies are putting together their 2013-2014 season. Given the incredible talent in this town and the large number of daring, courageous theater groups in the Austin area, here are my picks for 13 musicals that I'd love to see produced in the 2013-2014 season.

With the revival of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" garnering positive reviews in a Roundabout Theatre production at Studio 54, THEATER TALK welcomes two of its talents - Rupert Holmes, who wrote the book, music and lyrics for the 1985 musical, and Will Chase, who plays the dual roles of John Jasper and Mr. Clive Paget.

Tony Award-winning producers Junkyard Dog Productions and Hal Luftig announced today that they will present a reading of the new musical FIRST DATE today, December 14, 2012. With a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner and direction by Bill Berry, the reading of FIRST DATE will feature Eric Ankrim, Sara Chase, Alli Mauzey, Brandon O'Neill, Brad Oscar, Nicole Parker and Andre Ward.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood is playing a limited engagement at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street) through March 10th, 2013. The original end date was February 10th, 2013. Yesterday the cast gatherd at DRG Records to record the cast album of the new 2012 Broadway production. The cast album will be a two-disc set that will also include a new Act Two opening number, additional ballet music from Puffer's opium den, an additional Act One track not previously recorded and eight tracks featuring the confession of each murderer. The RRazz Room, San Francisco's premier nightclub, presents the debut duo engagement of stage and screen star, FRANC D'AMBROSIO, and Broadway star, JERI SAGER. For their show, "Together Again...For The First Time," the powerhouse duo will perform their favorite Broadway and pop hits along with stories of their early days together in New York City. The show will run today, December 11 through December 15.

Broadway legend Andrea McArdle has two new albums set for release on Broadway Records. The first, '70s and Sunny: Live At 54 BELOW', was recorded during her triumphant debut at the new Broadway hotspot 54 BELOW and will be released today, December 11, 2012. The second recording, 'Calendar Dream', is an exciting new project that teams Andrea up with a stellar array of Broadway's most awarded writers to journey though a year of a woman's life.
