MasterVoices, formerly The Collegiate Chorale, was honored at the Martina Arroyo Foundation's11th Annual Gala.MasterVoices was recognized along with American couture designer Joanna Mastroianni and The Michel Maurel award-winner Ernst Rieser. Brian Kellow and Terrance McKnight hosted the gala, with performances by the young artists of Prelude to Performance, Jennifer Rowley, Michele Angelini and Cecilia Violetta Lopez (both featured in the October issue of Opera News), as well as other special guests.

Listening to Rufus Wainwright's rendition of his own "Oh, What a World," choreographer Cherice Barton envisioned the songwriter sitting on a train or in an airport and putting pen to paper as he found beauty in the mundane. Struck by the simplicity of the song's lyrics and by the music that reached a powerful crescendo, she expressed her feelings in her own way - through dance.

On Friday December 4, indie-pop band Sky-Pony (fronted by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham) will hit the stage at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory to celebrate the release of their debut LP Beautiful Monster - which drops the same day from Knitting Factory Records. The extravaganza will also include performances from acclaimed comedic folk duo Future Folk and DJs Andrew Andrew.
Faure Quartett Makes Orange County Debut at Segerstrom Center Tonight

Segerstrom Center's Chamber Music Series continues tonight, November 11 at 8 p.m. with leading piano ensemble, Faure? Quartett. For its Center debut, the quartet will perform Mozart's Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, K. 493, Martinu?'s Piano Quartet No. 1, H. 287 and music from its namesake, Gabriel Faure?'s Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor, Op. 15. The Quartett, which includes Dirk Mommertz, piano; Erika Geldsetzer, violin; Sascha Fro?mbling, viola and Konstantin Heidrich, cello, is known for its adventurous repertory that pushes the boundaries of chamber music programming by spanning centuries and musical genres. To help enrich the experience for audiences, a free Preview Talk with musicologist and author Herbert Glass will take place at 7:15 p.m. in Samueli Theater.
