The new Broadway musical An American in Paris is now in previews and just opened last night, April 12, 2015 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). An American In Paris is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Inspired by the Academy-Award winning film, An American In Paris brings this classic tale to Broadway for the first time with music and lyrics by George Gershwinand Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas. Knight, Emmy Award nominated actor, will join the cast of Broadway's smash hit comedy It's Only a Play in the role of 'Frank Finger' on March 31, 2015, on the same day that 2-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane returns to the cast in the role of 'James Wicker', as previously announced. How are cast members supporting each other during 10-out-of-12's? (In case you're unfamiliar with the term, An American in Paris has been working 10 out of 12 scheduled hours this past week at the Palace Theatre. This is a customary, if not notorious, phase of teching a Broadway show.) It's an intense week; there are long hours, frequent adjustments, and a lot of stopping and starting. But each day is incredibly rewarding. There's a lot of first time magic that happens in the theater during tech - you see lighting cues that transform a scene, dazzling new costumes, projections and effects; and the show changes from barebones to stunning before your eyes. Producers Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, and Ken Davenport announced today that Tony Award winner Nathan Lane will return to the Broadway's biggest hit comedy It's Only a Play in the role of James Wicker on March 31, 2015 and will continue with the production through its scheduled closing date of June 7, 2015. Lane departed It's Only A Play on January 4, 2015 due to a previously scheduled commitment with the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) staging of The Iceman Cometh. (more...)

Three-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Patricia Clarkson and Alessandro Nivola will play their final Broadway performance in Bernard Pomerance's Tony Award-winning classic The Elephant Man on Saturday, February 21 after 35 previews and 83 regular performances. Directed by 6-time Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis, the production began performances on November 7, 2014 and officially opened on December 7, 2014 at Broadway's Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street, NYC). The Elephant Man begins a 12 week limited engagement at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket on May 19, 2015 for a limited engagement through August 8, 2015. (more...)
