The creative guys behind 9 Works Theatrical ('Songs for a New World,' 'Rent') have been immersing themselves into a new production in spite of the fact that they have just closed their sold-out, limited engagement of 'Rent' at the RCBC Theatre...Up next is the screen to stage adaptation of 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starrer 'The Wedding Singer.' The Magic Castle offers yet another great Broadway star to the stage of Cabaret at the Castle with Lee Roy Reams. The man who columnist Liz Smith called 'Broadway's Darling' and the New York Times hailed as 'Broadway's song and dance man nonpareil' is scheduled to appear for one night only. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sealed With A Wish Foundation, Inc.

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's production of Chess, running March 7-April 25 at No Exit Café, combines cabaret theatre and concert concept styles. Although the backdrop is international chess competitions with grand masters from the United States and Soviet Union during the Cold War, the story is really about the woman in the middle.

George Robert Merritt, Jr. of Hawthorne, N.J. passed into eternal life on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the age of 67. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Bobbie, of 18 years of marriage, his beloved step-daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Andrew of NY, his pride and joy grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia and Paris, 5 loving God-children, Kristen, Natlalie, Ricki, Anna and Josiah, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the son of Mary Hawes of Ct., the brother of Philip, Henry, Rachel, Natalea, Roderick, Ralph, Sue, Patti and Tom. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Andy and Ken. A Celebration Service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 7:00 PM at: Calvary Baptist Church, 123 West 57th St., New York City, N.Y.

Actress Kathleen Powers, currently starring in Joel Drake Johnson's THE END OF THE TOUR directed by Cecilie Keenan at 16th Street Theater is stuck in New York due to the snow storm. Tomorrow's performance on Thursday, February 11 has been cancelled. But Friday's 7:30 PM show and Saturday's 5:00 PM & 8:00 PM will go on as planned. Due to the cancellation, a special President's Day performance (how appropriate) has been added on Monday, February 15 at 7:30 PM.

Signature Theatre Company announced today that ANGELS IN AMERICA: A GAY FANTASIA ON NATIONAL THEMES, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning epic work by Tony Kushner, will begin performances on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, launching the theatre's 20th anniversary season. The first New York revival of ANGELS IN AMERICA will be directed by Michael Greif. The production will open in late October on a date to be announced.
