Daniil Trifonov to Offer Seven-Concert Perspectives Series at Carnegie Hall

Mr. Trifonov has already developed an international career as a solo artist, a champion of the concerto repertoire, a collaborator at the keyboard in chamber music and song, and as a composer artistic facets that will all be showcased in his seven-concert Perspectives series this season, beginning with a solo recital in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Saturday, October 28. At 26 years of age, Mr. Trifonov is the youngest artist ever to curate a Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall.
EMV presents Monteverdi's ORFEO History's First Operatic Masterpiece

Early Music Vancouver (EMV) presents the first unqualified masterpiece in operatic history, Monteverdi's Orfeo, on October 29, 2017 at 3pm at the Chan Centre for Performing Arts. Often described as a game changer in the history of music, the work marks the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque. This classic myth of love and loss will come to life under GRAMMY award-winner and Monteverdi specialist, Stephen Stubbs, leading the singers and musicians of Seattle's Pacific MusicWorks. This production will star Vancouver's own internationally celebrated tenor Colin Balzer in the title role, and will also include San Francisco's Dark Horse Consort, North America's most respected 17th century wind ensemble.

Italian pianist Luca Buratto, the Honens International Piano Competition's 2015 Prize Laureate, will make his New York debut at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. His program features works by Ad s, Jan ?ek, Ligeti, Prokofiev and Schumann. Sphinx Celebrates 20th Anniversary Season With Two Performances at Carnegie Hall

The Sphinx Organization, a Detroit-based organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts, celebrates its 20th anniversary with two exciting programs at Carnegie Hall. The first is an appearance by the Sphinx Virtuosi, a chamber orchestra comprised of alumni of the internationally renowned Sphinx Competition, on Friday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. Titled Concerti per Venti, the program features string works from the Baroque era through present day. Presented in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, this wide-spanning program includes the New York premiere of Guardian of the Horizon: Concerto Grosso for Violin, Cello, and Strings, by award-winning composer Jimmy L pez. This work was co-commissioned by the Sphinx Organization, with the support of Linda and Stuart Nelson, Carnegie Hall, and New World Symphony in honor of Sphinx's 20th Anniversary Celebration. The concert will also include works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Nathan Milstein, and Michael Abels.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

On July 22, 2017, the talented young students of the Hotchkiss School Summer Portals Piano Program will perform a fifth-anniversary gala performance in honor of Hotchkiss School former Chairman and Board Member Frederick Frank (class of 1950) and Mary Tanner Frank. The concert features celebrated international pianists, Hotchkiss Piano Program Director Fabio Witkowski and Resident Piano Faculty Gisele Nacif Witkowski; joining them are the Fine Arts Quartet, described as a “powerhouse of American chamber music for more than six decades,” (Washington Post) and with “tone… both beguilingly tangy and warm” (The Strad), comprised of violinists Ralph Evans and Efim Boico, violist Gil Sharon, and cellist Niklas Schmidt. The rich program includes Haydn's The Lark String Quartet in D Major, and Robert Schumann's E-flat Major Piano Quartet and E-flat Major Piano Quintet.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival concludes its 51st season with a revival of the acclaimed Budapest Festival Orchestra production of Don Giovanni, directed and conducted by Ivan Fischer, with a cast led by baritone Christopher Maltman; Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree leading two Festival Orchestra programs featuring pianist Kirill Gerstein in his Mostly Mozart debut and violinist Gil Shaham; a special appearance by Langree on piano in a pre-concert recital with Susanna Phillips; and Mostly Mozart artists-in-residence International Contemporary Ensemble performing a nature-inspired program by three pioneering female composers and featuring Wu Wei in his festival debut.
