R.Evolucion Latina's 4th Annual Dance-A-Thon, that raises funds in order to provide free arts programing for adults and children throughout the year, will take place on Saturday, October 22nd at a new location SLATE NYC.

Prior to my attendance at Dallas Theater Center's DREAMGIRLS this weekend, my familiarity with the show was based on the 2006 motion picture and the 2001 Actors Fund concert recording (not to mention the Tony Awards clip featuring Jennifer Holliday). Basically knowing only the film, I had often considered how smoothly the stage show could handle the onstage to backstage transitions, given the fast-paced musical score it followed. And, although the DTC production offers a slick, seamless interpretation of the piece, I'm afraid I left the theatre with the impression that the (gasp) movie adaptation was superior to the stage version. That being said, there are still many reasons to head to the Wyly to see this production.

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the award-winning hit musical Dreamgirls. This modern-day classic is led by director and DTC Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell. Dreamgirls will begin with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Friday, June 10 and will run through Sunday, July 24. R.Evolucion Latina's upcoming production, BOUNTIFUL: A Teachers Journey received a special visit from Sergio Trujillo.  

Matthew Steffens is one of the nine uniquely brilliant choreographers of BOUNTIFUL: A Teacher's Journey, R.Evolucion Latina's 2016 Choreographers Festival. He has served as the associate choreographer for the Broadway production of Doctor Zhivago and of the Off-Broadway immersive hit Queen of the Night. Matthew has performed on Broadway in Promises, Promises and Women on the Verge of A Nervous Breakdown and now he is starring in R.Evolucion Latina's (RL) new production. 

Director, choreographer and performer Luis Salgado is living his own 'Bountiful journey' as a 'latino' artist on the Broadway stage of ON YOUR FEET, working on DIRTY DANCING remake and coming on board for DAPHNE'S DIVE.

Producers have announced that Mark Stuart Dance Theatre's critically acclaimed new dance musical, Standard Time, will extend its limited engagement at The Duke on 42nd Street (229 W 42nd Street) in NYC two additional weeks, now through Sunday, December 20, 2015. The new dance musical, which Dance Magazine called "Spectacular," features direction and choreography by award-winning choreographer Mark Stuart (Women on the Verge..., The Bandstand). The 3rd annual R.Evolucion Latina - Dance-A-Thon raised $26,250 after 6 weeks of fundraising. The culmination of the online fundraising campaign took place on October 24th where artists, RL campers and supporters came together to celebrate for 5 hours of energized dancing. Broadway and NYC performing artists once again will donate their time and talents as teaching artists at the 8th Annual Dare to Go Beyond (D2GB) Children's Performing Arts Camp, hosted by R.Evolucion Latina (RL).

On Sunday, June 21, 9:30 pm & Midnight, Broadway Bares is back and sexier than ever. The event will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom located in the Manhattan Center (311 West 34th Street, NYC). BROADWAY BARES is an annual event that consists of an evening of sexy striptease that benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year the event will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a spectacular edition, Broadway Bares: Top Bottoms of Burlesque, a show inspired by the golden age of Broadway.
