Ailey Extension is helping people all around the world kickstart their 2022 resolutions with new workshops and weekly classes to help make movement part of a fun and healthy lifestyle.

Ailey Extension invites people around the globe to fall into dance with a variety of classes, special workshops and a kids & teens series starting in September.  Students of diverse ages, backgrounds and levels are welcome to enjoy learning dance moves and enhancing fitness under the instruction of New York City's top dance professionals with a cornucopia of virtual offerings. 

Black Women on Broadway will be presenting Black Women in Theatre Appreciation Day June 29, beginning at noon! The all-day virtual conference will feature workshops, panels and more, and celebrate the legacy of Black women in theatre.

'Ybor City,' an original musical with book by Anita Gonzalez and music and lyrics by Dan Furman, is a story of romance and labor organizing in 1918 Tampa, where the Afro-Cuban workforce joined with Italian and Spanish immigrants to unionize the new American cigar industry. The tuner will be presented as a work-in-progress February 5 to 26 by Brooklyn Tavern Theater, which is is pioneering a new theatrical genre: no-frills, immersive musicals presented as Equity showcases in hospitable taprooms. Performances will be Feb. 5, 12, 18, 19 and 26 at Rustik Tavern, 471 Dekalb Ave., Bed-Stuy and February 10 and 25 at The Players, 16 Gramercy Park South, Manhattan. Vernice Miller directs a cast of eleven. Co-producer is Art Boundaries Unlimited, Inc.

The World Premiere of the new off-Broadway play Eco Village by Phoebe Nir, will include a Post-Show Talkback moderated by Justice Nnnanna featuring farmers Nailah Marie, Amber Tamm Canty and Myriah Towner, with special invited audiences from Striver's Row and The Creative Collective, as well as an Afro Flow Yoga-Session led by Pilin Anice following the 4pm performance of Eco Village on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

Ailey Extension invites dancers to find their summer groove with exciting workshops and master classes. In addition to its annual Summer Performance Workshop series, Ailey Extension will offer an Alonzo King LINES Ballet Master Class with Meredith Webster and a "Werk That Twerk" workshop with famed hip-hop instructor TweetBoogie. These opportunities allow students to refine their technique, boost stage presence, and perform movement highlighting their personal style while learning from some of New York City's top instructors at The Ailey Studios.

Ailey Extension welcomes leading dancers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to teach three special workshops during the company's New York City Center holiday season (November 29 - December 31).

For eight weeks, students will be immersed in traditional dance styles and cultural rhythms through weekly two-hour workshops taught by renowned Ailey Extension instructors. All levels are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the range of workshops from NY Style Mambo to Afro-Cuban to West African. The experience culminates with a performance open to family, friends, and fans at The Ailey Citigroup Theateron Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m.

To celebrate Women's HERstory Month in March, Ailey Extension presents two workshops to promote health awareness and empower women of all shapes and sizes.

To celebrate Women's HERstory Month in March, Ailey Extension presents two workshops to promote health awareness and empower women of all shapes and sizes. On Tuesday, March 14th at 7 p.m. three of Ailey Extension's top dance and fitness instructors - Sarita Allen, Karen Arceneaux, and Sarah Rozek - lead a Women's Health and Fitness Day workshop. On Saturday, March 25th at 7 p.m. Pretty BIG Movement's founder and CEO Akira Armstrong instructs the Move Your Curves workshop designed for voluptuous, plus-sized women.

In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's New York City Center season, the Ailey Extension presents workshops taught by acclaimed choreographers and instructors throughout December, as well as special dance fitness events to ring in 2017. From mambo to ballet, these unique workshops and special classes allow novice, intermediate, and professional students to explore techniques and choreography at New York's largest building dedicated to dance.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performances inspire audiences around the world, and New Yorkers have a unique opportunity to join in the dance. The Ailey Extension and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater announce the return of “Ticket to Dance” in conjunction with Ailey's Lincoln Center season June 10—21. “Ticket to Dance” welcomes audience members to try their first Ailey Extension class FREE with the presentation of a performance ticket stub (returning students receive a free class with the purchase of a 10-class card). Currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Ailey Extension offers over 80 classes for students of all levels in 25 different techniques, including Horton – the dance technique featured in classics like Ailey's must-see Revelations, which will be performed during the Company's Lincoln Center season.

In celebration of Heart Health Month, Valentine's Day, and the 2014 Carnaval; in February the Ailey Extension will offer a new technique, and a series of one-day only dance and fitness workshops taught by world renowned instructors, designed to move and excite participants of all levels and backgrounds. The Extension's vast offerings allow the general public a unique opportunity to experience a variety of dance and fitness techniques from around the world, including DanzatoneTM, Afro Flow Yoga (AFY), Valentine's Day Salsa, and the Spirit of Carnaval workshop.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a developmental reading of the hit 1945 musical comedy Are You With It? today, December 12 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Bruno Walter Auditorium.

(UMC) will present a developmental reading of the hit 1945 musical comedy Are You With It? on December 12 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Bruno Walter Auditorium. Based on the novel Slightly Perfect by George Malcolm-Smith, the musical has a book by Emmy Award winners George Balzer & Sam Perrin ('The Jack Benny Program'), music by Academy Award nominee Harry Revel (Paris in Spring) and lyrics by Arnold B. Horwitt (Make Mine Manhattan, Plain and Fancy). UMC artistic director Ben West (Caesar's Wife, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad) directs the reading.

Jonathan Burke (A Christmas Story), Amy Hohn (November), Chris LeBeau, Kilty Reidy (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Cary Shields (Taboo, Rent) have joined the cast of UnsungMusicalsCo.'s (UMC) concert presentation of Caesar's Wife.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a one-night-only concert of Caesar's Wife featuring the world premiere of an original score written circa 1969 by Tony Award nominee Carolyn Leigh (Peter Pan, Little Me, Gatsby) and Grammy Award nominee Lee Pockriss (Gatsby, Ernest in Love). Conceived and directed by Ben West (The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), this new behind-the-scenes look at the unfinished musical will play Peter Norton Symphony Space on Monday, November 18 at 7:30 PM.
