?VIVIAN REED, the two-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway star and concert artist called "remarkable and ferocious" by The New York Times and "a force of nature" by The New York Post, continues her acclaimed concert series "Standards and More" at The Metropolitan Room on Monday, May 23 at 7:00 PM. Returning as special guests for this performance will be Metropolitan Opera soprano Janinah Burnett and Broadway and nightclub Raun Ruffin star, who appeared in The Civil War. Reed will also perform at The Metropolitan Room on June 17 and July 21, backed by a four-piece band led by Billy McDaniel. The evening includes unique arrangements of classic standards by Duke Ellington, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and George Gershwin in a dazzling blend of pop, jazz, soul and R&B. (more...)

(New York, October 14, 2015)—The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that The Costume Institute's spring 2016 exhibition will be manus x machina: fashion in an age of technology, on view from May 5 through August 14, 2016(preceded on May 2 by The Costume Institute Benefit).  Presented in the Museum's Robert Lehman Wing and Anna Wintour Costume Center, the exhibition will explore the impact of new technology on fashion and how designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear. The exhibition aims to capture the essence of French design of the 1970s, a period in which designers were particularly influenced by the art, craft, architecture, and nomadic cultures of the Arab world. Radical Rabat brings together rare and important works by Sheila Hicks, Michel Boyer, Maria Pergay, and Pierre Paulin – creators who drew inspiration from both the traditions and international cosmopolitan scenes of such places as Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.   (more...)
